Shell was born on August 10, 1914 and departed this life on March 11, 2012 at the age of 97 years, 7 months & 1 day. She was born at Daley, KY. and was the Daughter of the late H.T. Day and late Jemima Williams Day. By occupation she was a former Post Mistress at Smilax, KY. & Library Aid at the Hayes Lewis Elementary School. She was a member of the Cutshin Bible Church. As hobbies Alta enjoyed Sewing, Reading, Travel & Conversation. Mrs. Alta D. Shell was Preceded in Death by her Parents: H.T Day & Jemima Williams; Husband: Pole Shell; Sister: Elva Lewis; Brother-In-Law: Hayes Lewis; Niece: Janeth Lewis. She leaves the following relatives surviving: Nephew: Freddie Lewis & Ulene of Hyden, KY.; Great Nieces: Cheryl Clark & Danny of Hyden, KY.; Melissa Sparks & Larry of Hyden, KY.; Great Great Nephews: Matt Sparks, Zack Sparks, Austin Clark; Great Great Nieces: Hillary Moore, Katie Moore, Shelby Sparks. Alta is also survived by a host of other treasured relatives and friends. Funeral Services for Mrs. Alta D. Shell will be conducted on Tuesday March 13, 2012 at 1:00 P.M. at the Cutshin Bible Church at Yeaddiss, KY. Visitation will start at 12:00 Noon on Tuesday until time of service.
