Sandlin born March 23, 1929 departed this life on Saturday, January 08, 2011 at the Mary Breckinridge Hospital in Hyden, Ky. He was 81 years old. John A. was born at Hell-For-Certain, Ky., the son of the late Charlie Sandlin & Ella Baker. John A. was a retired coal miner, logger, & former employee of Leslie Co. He was affiliated with the Grace Brethren Victory Mountain Chapel, Confluence, Ky. John A. enjoyed hunting, gardening, spending time outdoor in the mountains, & playing cards as hobbies. John A. was a life-long resident of Leslie Co., residing at 2521 Big Valley Road, Hyden, Ky., at the time of his death. Mr. John A. Sandlin was preceded in death by his parents: Charlie Sandlin & Ella Baker Sandlin, two sons Will & Conley Sandlin & the mother of his children, Nancy Sandlin. Mr. John A. Sandlin leaves the following relatives surviving:two sons: C.B. Sandlin and wife, Cinda, of Hyden,Ky. Ronnie Sandlin and wife, Susan, of Hyden, Ky., three daughters: Linda North & husband, Charlie of Hyden,Ky., Jessie Lewis of Hyden, Ky., Nikki Lewis and husband, Tim of Hyden, Ky., daughter-in-law: Darla Sandlin of Hyden, Ky.,one brother: Matt Sandlin & wife, Betty of Hyden, Ky., two sisters: Ruby Woods of Hyden, Ky., Alta Ruth Sandlin, of Hyden, Ky.,"special nurse" Stephanie Jones Griffie, caretaker, Danielle Riddle, home-health nurse, Jackie, eleven treasured grandchildren: Jacob Lewis, Nicholas Lewis, J.D. Sandlin & Tonya, Kevin Sandlin, Ricky Griffie & Stephanie, Nancy Gibson, Denna Feltner, Michelle Combs, Charles Sandlin, William Sandlin, Eleanor Robinson, & eleven treasured great grandchildren, & a host of other relatives and friends. The funeral service for Mr. John A. Sandlin will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. - Wednesday - January 12, 2011 at the Dwayne Walker Funeral Home Chapel with Rick Sandlin, Sam Baer, & Charlie Sandlin officiating. The interment will follow in the Sandlin Family Cemetery, Hyden, Ky. Friends may call for visitation @ 5:00 p.m. - Tuesday - January 11, 2011.
