Johnie Begley, 84, of Big Creek, was born, July 22nd, 1929, and passed away, Saturday, September 14, 2013 at the St. Joseph London Hospital. He was Mining Engineer for Shamrock Coal Co. for over 30 years and an active member of the Big Creek Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Jean A. Begley, of Big Creek, three daughters, Donna Hamilton, and husband, Forrester, of Manchester, Sylvia Lynn Napier, of Hazard, Nancy Clutts, and husband, Melvin, of Hazard, and these grandchildren, Michael and Ian Hamilton, Leslie Pittman, Tracy Watts, and John Clutts, along with nine great-grandchildren. Also surviving are two brothers and one sister, Everett Begley, Norman Begley, and Verna Couch, all of Hyden, KY, and his special friends, Ricardo and Nanci Perez. He is preceded in death by his parents, Reuben and Emma Begley, and one grandson, Doug. He also leaves a host of other relatives and friends to mourn his death. Funeral services for Johnie Begley will be held 3 PM Tuesday at the Big Creek Baptist Church with Mark Back officiating. Visitation will be after 6 PM Monday at the Britton Funeral Home Chapel and 1-3 PM Tuesday at the Big Creek Baptist Church. Britton Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
