Donald Kilburn George Edward Bailey was born on October 8, 1936, passed away on June 9, 2009 at the age of 72 years, 8 months & 1 day. George was born at Smilax, Ky., the son of the late, Gordon & Mackey Baker Bailey, He was a life-long resident of Perry Co. By occupation George was a contract carpenter for Glenn Baker. He enjoyed his work & gardening. George Edward Bailey was also preceded in death by 2 brothers: Homer & John & 5 sisters: Beulah, Rebecca, Cora, Suda & Hazel. He leaves the following relatives surviving: His loving & devoted wife: Shirley Marie Coots Bailey of Slemp, KY., 1 son: George E."Eddie" Bailey, Jr. of Lexington, Ky., 1 daughter: Sandy Bailey of Slemp, Ky., 2 brothers, Thomas Bailey of Viper, Ky. & Kenneth Bailey of Sacremento, California, 1 sister: Polly Neble Hansford of Peru, Indiana, 1 granddaughter: Jessica Browning & 2 great-granddaughters: Madison Baker & Maliah Baker. Two very special friends: Glenn Baker & Paul Baker of Hazard, Ky. Also a host of treasured nieces & nephews. Funeral service for George Edward Bailey will be conducted by the Dwayne Walker Funeral Home, Hyden, Ky., on Saturday, June 13,2009 at 1:00 P.M. at the First Baptist Church of Big Leatherwood, Delphia, Ky., with Rev. Eddie Williams, Rev. Billy Joe Lewis & Rev. Donald Kilburn officiating. Burial will follow in the Clover Fork Cemetery at Big Leatherwood, Ky. The following will serve as pallbearers: Winford Campbell, Jim Hall, Darrell Combs, David Wayne Mitchell, David Halcomb, Jesse Mize, James Gray "Jabber" & Charlie Glenn Baker.
