The obituary of Mrs. Iris Woods Cornett Officiating Ministers: Rev. Kevin Napier and Rev. Teddy Couch Mrs. Iris Woods Cornett born December 8, 1934 departed this life on September 17, 2010 at the age of 75 years. She was born at Hyden, Kentucky the daughter of the late Tom Woods and the late Lizzie Napier Woods. By occupation Iris was self employed as a painter and house keeper. She was affiliated with the Pentecostal Church and had been a life-long resident of Leslie County. Iris enjoyed taking care of her pet dogs. She was preceded in death by her parents: Tom and Lizzie Woods; husband: John C. Cornett; one sister: Vera Maggard; three brothers: Mike Woods, Gillie Woods and Harold Woods. She leaves surviving the following relatives: one son: Scott Hazlett & wife Teresa of Hyden, KY.; three sisters: Ollie Wiley of Frankfort, KY., Grace Smith and Mary Ledford of Ohio; two brothers: Shafter Woods and John Woods of Frankfort, KY.; two grandchildren: Jonathon Hazlett and Victoria Hazlett; one great grandchild: Cianna Hazlett. Also survived by a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Funeral services for Mrs Iris Woods Cornett will be conducted at 1 p.m.-Tuesday, September 21, 2010 at the Dwayne Walker Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Kevin Napier and Rev. Teddy Couch officiating. Burial will follow in the John Cornett Cemetery at Hyden, Kentucky. The following will serve as Pallbearers: James Davidson, Marty Davidson, Donnie Hazlett, Gillie Woods, Jr., Carlos Wiley, Jonathon Hazlett, Johnny Davidson and Johnny Wiley. The following will serve as Honorary Pallbearers: Tommy Wiard and Eddie Moore. Friends may call for visitation beginning at 6 p.m.- Monday, September 20, 2010 at the funeral home chapel.
