The Obituary of Mrs. Zola Begley Rice Officiating Minister: Merle Caudill Mrs. Zola Begley Rice was born on October 25, 1927 at Wooton, KY. and departed this life on October 11, 2011 at the Mary Breckinridge ARH in Hyden, KY. She was 83 years, 11 months and 16 days of age at the time of her passing. Zola was the daughter of the late Sam Begley and the late Stella Steele. By occupation Zola was employed by the Leslie County Board of Education, working at W.B. Muncy for 39 years. She was a lifelong resident of Leslie County. She enjoyed cooking and was a member of the Wooton Presbyterian Church in Wooton, KY. She was preceded in death by: Parents: Sam & Stella Steele Begley; Husband: John H. Rice; Sisters: Oma Melton, Eliza Combs, and Hazel Van Pelt; Brothers: Harvey Begley and Don "Black Jack" Begley; Half Sister: Anna Lee Baker. Mrs. Zola Begley Rice leaves the following relatives surviving: Sons: Tommy W. Rice & Linda of Richmond, KY., Wallace Glenn Rice & Ciddie of Wooton, KY. and Donnie Wade Rice & Janie of London, KY.; Brothers: Woodson Begley & Inis of Loveland, OH. and David Begley & Charlotte of Middletown, OH.; Sister: Jesse Sizemore; Grandchildren: Bridget McGovern & Sean, Matthew Rice, Kendra Ritchie, Monica Jones & Jason and Kristi Schell & Matthew; Great-Grandchildren: Elaina McGovern, Ty and Faith Jones. Funeral services for Mrs. Zola Begley Rice will be conducted on Friday ~ October 14, 2011 at 12:00 Noon at the Dwayne Walker Funeral Home with Rev. Merle Caudill and Eulogy by Bridget McGovern. Burial will follow in the Hurricane Cemetery ~ Hyden, KY. The following will serve as Pallbearers: Damon Huff, Matthew Rice, Wade Begley, Todd Begley, Sean McGovern, Jason Jones, Jerry Baker and Matt Schell.
