Mr. John Henry Griffie was born on November 16, 1941 and departed this life on June 17, 2009 at the age of 67 years, 7 months, and 1 day. He was the son of the late Jack Griffie and the late Rosa Bolen. He was a resident of Dawson County, GA after moving there from Leslie County 27 years ago. By occupation he was a brick mason. Some of his hobbies included fishing, listening to music, and driving his truck. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers: Jim & Billy Griffie, one sister: Mary Scruggs. He leaves surviving the following relatives: mother of children: Sandra Delores Stewart of Hampton, GA; two step-sons: Travis of GA, and Kerry of FL; three daughters: Denise Lane & Woody of Dawsonville, GA, Vickie Morris & Steve of Locust Grove, GA, and Candi Padgett & Fredrick of Ellijay, GA; three brothers; Willie Griffie & Shirley of GA, Elmer Griffie & Connie of Hyden, KY, and Charles Griffie & Charlotte of Hyden, KY; three sisters: Lula Belle Winters & Neal, carol Vines & Raymond, and Linda Carroll & Steve all of Georgia; fifteen grandchildren:Keith, Curtis, Cameron, Christopher, Joey, Jeffery, Nicole, Julie, Zachary, Steven, Haley, Ryan, Tyler, Cody, & Jake; six great-grandchildren: Sasha, Alexis, Conner, Rylee, Joshua, & Nicholas, Also survived by a host of treasured nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Funeral services for Mr. John Henry Griffie will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 20, 2009 at the Dwayne Walker Funeral Home. Visitation will begin at 6:00 p.m. Friday, June 19, 2009 at the funeral home. Burial will take place at the John North Cemetery at Dryhill, KY following the funeral service.
