The obituary of Mr. William Nickles "Nick" Lewis, Jr. Officiating Ministers: Rev. Merle Caudill, Rev. Greg Whitaker & Rev. Billy Joe Lewis Mr. W.N. Nick Lewis, Jr., of 25 Cherry St., Hyden, Ky., born June 18, 1916 in Hyden, KY., the son of the late W.N. Lewis, Sr. & Zana Sizemore Lewis, departed this life on Sunday, August 25, 2013 at his residence. He was 97 years of age at the time of his passing. Nick attended the University of Ky. where he studied engineering & sung on various campus radio programs. Nick also attended the University of Louisville. Nick & his beloved wife, Kathleen moved to Corpus Christi Texas in 1954 and were residents there until 1984 (with the exception of a short stint in Elizabethtown, Ky.)Nick and Kathleen moved back to Hyden in 1984. Nick was a World War II Veteran having served honorably in the U.S Coast Guard. He was a self-employed carpenter & U.S. Government employee. He enjoyed wood-working, lapidary process of making-belt buckles & bolo ties. Nick was a devoted and faithful member of the Central Prestyterian Church in Hyden, KY.,where he held the office of Trustee. Nick was a member of the Hyden Masonic Lodge #664, having achieved the rank of Master Mason Nick was also a former councilman serving on the the Hyden City Council. He was an avid UK fan, especially football, geneologist. & historian of Leslie Co. history. William Nickles "Nick" Lewis, Jr. was preceded in death by his parents: W.N. Lewis, Sr.& Zana Sizemore Lewis, a son: William Nickles Lewis III. brothers: Goebel Homer, David Harold, Dexter, Lindsey Bruce, Joseph Tinsley, James Earl, John Everett-killed in World War II, Victor Paul, sisters: Edna, Hazel Ruth, Lida & Elizabeth. Survivors include his loving and devoted wife, Kathleen Feltner Lewis of Hyden, Ky., two grandsons: Todd Lewis and wife, Tamra of Lake Barrington, Illinois, Kevin Lewis of Chicago, Illinois, & two great granddaughters: Emily & Madeline Lewis, one brother: Lew Daniel Lewis. Also a host of nieces & nephews survive. FUNERAL: THURSDAY, AUGUST 29, 2013 @ 11:00 A.M. @ THE CENTRAL PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH, HYDEN, KY. MINISTERS: REV. MERLE CAUDILL, REV. GREG WHITAKER & REV.
