The obituary of Nellie Feltner Slone Officiating Minister: Rev. Billy Joe Lewis Nellie Feltner Slone was born on May 27, 1942 and departed this life on Monday, May 23, 2011 at the Hazard Hospice Care Center, Hazard, Ky. She was 68 years, 11 months, & 26 days old. Nellie was born at Hyden, Ky., the daughter of the late Manual Feltner & Laura Lewis Feltner. Nellie was a former restaurant worker & most recently, she was an in home care-giver for the sick and elderly. Nellie was a member of the Baptist Church & a life-long resident of Leslie Co., residing at 5349 Wolfe Creek Road at the time of her death. Nellie enjoyed working jig-saw puzzles, reading, & flower gardening as hobbies. Mrs. Nellie Feltner Slone was preceded in death by her Parents; Son: Charles Hendrix; Infant Twins: Teresa & Melissa Griffith; Infants: Betty & Sharon Hendrix; Brothers: Charlie, Ray, & Russell Feltner; Sisters: Nola Stidham, Bessie Feltner, Mae Feltner & Mable Feltner. Mrs. Nellie Feltner Slone leaves the following relatives surviving: two Sons: Chester Dixon and wife, Neiva of Susanville, California and William Dixon & wife, Dorothy of Buckhorn, Ky.; Daughters: Laura Gross and husband, Clayton, of Yeaddiss, Ky., Vivian Baker & husband, Jesse of Willard, Ky.; and a granddaughter she raised as her own, Ashley Hendrix of Cutshin, Ky.; one Brother: Willard Feltner & wife, Barb, of Hyden, Ky.; Sisters: Janie Feltner of Hyden, Ky., Rebecca Feltner of Ohio; 15 treasured Grandchildren: Amy, Lora, Justin, Marilyn, Heather, J.B., Michael, Charles, Candace, Lauren, Valerie, Tiffany, Jonathan, Anna & James ; 17 treasured Great Grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. The family would like to take this opportunity to express their sincere appreciation to Dr. Alam, the wonderful ICU staff @ Hazard ARH., the Hospice of the Bluegrass white team staff, nurses, caregivers & inpatient care staff at the Hazard Hospice Care Center. The funeral service for Mrs. Nellie Feltner Slone will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. - Friday May 27, 2011 at the Full Gospel Church of Jesus Christ, Smilax, Ky. with Rev. Billy Joe Lewis officiating. The interment will follow in the Farmer Gross Family Cemetery, Yeaddiss, Ky. The following will serve as Pallbearers: William Dixon, James Callahan, J.B. Callahan, Michael Couch, Charles Hendrix, Mike Callahan, Chris Callahan and Jesse Baker.
