The obituary of Mrs. Lula Howard Wells Officiating Minister: Danny Day & Harold Turner Mrs. Lula Howard Wells born August 16, 1926 departed this life on December 06, 2009 at the Hazard Appalachian Regional Medical Center, Hazard, Ky. She was 83 years, 3 months, & 20 days old. Lula was born at Cinda, Ky., the daughter of the late James Howard & Ollie Stidham Howard. Lula was a retired employee of the Leslie Co. Board of Education, having been a cook at W.B. Muncy Elementary & a homemaker. She was a member of the Full Gospel Church of Jesus Christ, Smilax, Ky., & enjoyed sewing, gardening, & cooking as hobbies. Lula was a life-long resident of Leslie Co., residing on Cutshin Road, Wooton, Ky. at the time of her death. Lula was preceded in death by her parents, husband: Henry Wells, one son: Logan Wells, & two brothers: Arthur Howard & James Jr., Howard. Mrs. Lula Howard Wells leaves the following relatives surviving: three sons: Henry Wells of London, Ky., James Wells of Brandenburg, Ky., Roger Wells & Carolyn of Hazard, Ky., one daughter: Laura Jean O'Quinn & Eldred of Springhill Florida, one daughter-in-law: Judy Hacker Wells of Stinnett, Ky., two brothers: Ed Howard & Zilpha of Hyden, Ky., Marcus Howard & Opal of Brandenburg, Ky., two sisters: Mollie Chappell of Hyden, Ky., Laura Hoskins of Wooton, Ky., 9 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, and a host of other treasured relatives and friends. The funeral service for Mrs. Lula Howard Wells will be conducted at 12 noon - Wednesday - December 09, 2009 at the Dwayne Walker Funeral Home Chapel. The interment will follow at the Creech Cemetery, Wooton, Ky., under the direction of the Dwayne Walker Funeral Home Staff. Friends may call for visitation from 6-9 p.m. - Tuesday - December 08, 2009 at the Dwayne Walker Funeral Home.
