He was 52 years, 4 months, & 4 days old. James was born at Hyden, Kentucky, the son of the late Charlie Lewis & Orpha Johnson. James had been previously employed by Shamrock Coal Co. as an electrician. He was a member of the Rockhouse Pentecostal Church, Hyden, & enjoyed playing music, hunting, fishing, woodworking, gardening, & ATV riding as hobbies. James also held a 2nd degree black belt in karate. James was a life-long resident of Leslie Co., residing at 388 Hurricane Road, Hyden, Ky., at the time of his death. Mr. James J. Lewis was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie Lewis & Orpha Johnson Lewis, one son: Brian Scott Lewis, two brothers: Seldon Lewis & Jerry Lewis, & one sister: Grace Lewis. Mr. James J. Lewis leaves the following relatives surviving: his loving & devoted wife: Geneva Brock Lewis, two sons: James Christopher Lewis of Hyden, Ky., Ryan Corey Lewis of Hyden, Ky., two brothers: Roy Lewis and wife, Helen, Joe Lewis of Wooton, Ky., five sisters: Ethel Feltner of Hyden, Ky., Bessie Combs & husband, Dennis, of Hyden, Ky., Dixie Napier of Hyden, Ky., Leona Hamrick and husband, Richard,of Hyden, Ky., Ann Smith & husband, Ernest, of Hyden, Ky., two grandchildren: MaKayla Hope Lewis, James Dylan Lewis, father-in-law & mother-in-law, Ralph & Mary Howard of Stinnett, Ky., & a host of treasured nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends survive to mourn his death. The funeral service for Mr. James J. Lewis will be conducted at 12:00 noon - Friday - October 31, 2008 at the Rockhouse Pentecostal Church, Hyden, Ky., with Rev. Teddy Couch & Rev. Teddy Collett officiating. The interment will follow in the Lewis Family Cemetery, Hyden, Ky., under the direction of the Dwayne Walker Funeral Home Staff.
