The obituary of Mr. Darrell D. Asher Officiating Ministers: Rev. Merle Caudill & Pastor Steve Springer Darrell D. Asher born February 12, 1936 departed this life on December 4, 2009 at the age of 73 years, 9 months, & 22 days old. Darrell was born at Hyden, Ky., the son of the late Caleb Asher & the late Susie Sizemore Asher. Darrell was a veteran having served honorably in the U. S. Army. He was a retired coal miner with the Blue Diamond Mining Co. Darrell was affiliated with the Presbyterian Church & enjoyed gardening as a hobby. Darrell was a life-long resident of Leslie Co., residing at 2069 Dryhill Road at the time of his death. Darrell was preceded in death by his parents: Caleb Asher & Susie Sizemore Asher. Mr. Darrell Asher leaves the following relatives surviving: his loving & devoted wife: Carolyn Sizemore Asher of Hyden, Ky., two sons: Thomas Asher & Rebecca of Hyden, Ky., Hershel Dwayne Asher & Tonya of Hyden, Ky., one daughter: Jackie Knoles of Scott, North Carolina, three brothers: Donald Asher & Opal of Hyden, Ky., Hershel Asher & Fannie Mae of Hyden, Ky., Billy Ray Asher of Indiana, three sisters: Nancy Alene Sizemore of Pikeville, Ky., Dee Asher of London, Ky., Maxie Asher of Pikeville, Ky., two grandchildren: Ariana & Alexia, step granddaughter: Kim & a host of treasured aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. The funeral for Mr. Darrell D. Asher will be conducted at 12:00 noon - Tuesday - December 8, 2009 at the Dwayne Walker Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Merle Caudill & Pastor Steve Springer officiating. The interment will follow in the Asher Family Cemetery, Hyden, Ky., with full military honors performed by the Leslie Co., D.A.V. Chapter # 133 under the direction of the Dwayne Walker Funeral Home staff. The following serve as pallbearers: Dean Asher, Donald Asher, Ray Napier, Craig Asher, Teddy Osborne and Roger Adams.
