The Obituary of Mrs. Nell Marie Howard Wilson Officiating Minister: Rev. Dan Griffiths & Rev. Steve Wilson Mrs. Nell Marie Wilson born on November 28, 1914 departed this life January 3, 2013 at the Harlan ARH Medical Center in Harlan, KY. She was 98 years of age and residing in Helton, KY. at the time of her passing. Nell was the daughter of the late Elisha Howard and the late Sarah Wilson and was the Widow of the late Carl E.Wilson. Nell attended and graduated from the Red Bird High School of Beverly, Ky. in 1932. She was employed as the Helton, Ky. Postmaster from 1965-2004. Nell served as a board member on the Leslie County Board of Education for 2 terms - 1952 - 1960. Nell was a charter & devoted member of the Beech Fork United Methodist Church in Helton, KY. She was a member of the church choir & was known for her special singing and piano playing abilites. Nell was a loved quilter, seamstress & canner. Nell also was an avid reader & U.K. basketball fan & enjoyed puzzles. Nell was very active in her community. She enjoyed fellowship at the Beech Fork Senior Citizens Community Center & cooked at the Beech Fork Elementary School. Nell was commissioned as a member of the Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels. Nell was very involved in the lives of her family. She was a wonderful cook and homemaker for her beloved family. Nell supported both physically and vocally the Leslie County High School baseball, basketball, and softball teams of which all five of her sons participated. She supported her daughter as a cheerleader. Nell was truly a matriarch of her family. Mrs. Nell Marie Howard Wilson was preceded in death by her: parents: Elisha & Sarah Howard; her loving and devoted husband, Carl E. Wilson; brothers: Ray Howard and Marcus Howard; sisters: Rose France, Parley Wilson, Addie Nantz, Lydia Gross, Nan Creech; & daughter-in-law: Gail Wilson. Mrs.Nell Marie Howard Wilson leaves the following relatives surviving: sons: Herman Wilson & wife, Jewell of Helton, KY., Lon Wilson & wife, Celeste of Somerset, KY., John Wilson of Helton, KY., Wendell Wilson & wife, Dianna of Helton, KY., Ronnie Wilson & wife, Charlene of Helton, KY.; Daughter: Judy Lay & husband, Kenneth of Barbourville, KY.; 17 grandchildren: Brett Wilson, Terrill Wilson, Valerie Pedersen, Tonya Farler, Donna Cornett, Debbie Howard, John Carl Wilson, Candace Wilson, Byron Wilson, Traci Walker, Greg Lay, Teresa Evans, Stephanie Whitehead, Ronald Blaine Wilson, Lauren West, Chris Fields, Kaylee Fields, 26 Great Grandchildren: Breanne Wilson, Kalyn Wilson, Tyler Wilson, Logan Watkins, Connor Wilson, Dillon Lay, Abby Lay, Jacob Evans, Grace Evans, Caroline Evans, Tori Howard, Cassidy Whitehead, Robbie Cornett, Savannah Howes, Sami Jo Cornett, Katelyn Farler, Alex Farler, Jordyn Walker, Payton Walker, Addison West, Kyla Whitehead, Andrew Whitehead, Kelli Fields, Jarred Fields, Hannah Pedersen & Lydia Pedersen, 6 Great Great Grandchildren: Brylei Mckee, Brysen Wilson, Nyssa Cornett, Aiden Howes, Wesley Howes, Parker Howes. Also survived by a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. The funeral service for Mrs. Nell Marie Howard Wilson will be conducted at 1:00 p.M.- Sunday ~ January 6, 2013 at the Upper Beech Fork United Methodist Church ~ Helton, KY. with Rev. Dan Griffiths & Rev. Steve Wilson officiating. The interment will follow in the Wilson Family Cemetery ~ Helton, KY. Friends may call for visitation on Sunday ~ January 6, 2013 from 11:00 A.M. until time of funeral service at 1:00 P.M. at the Church. The following will serve as active pallbearers: Brett Wilson, Greg Lay, Terrill Wilson, Byron Wilson, John Carl Wilson, Todd Howard, Tyler Wilson, & Jeff Pedersen.
