The Obituary for Sophia Holland Officiating Ministers: Rev. J.D. Hensley and Rev. Jerry Holland Sophia Bowling Holland was born on June 21, 1918 at Bear Branch, Ky., the Daughter of the late Lige & Mary J. Hensley Bowling. Sophia passed away on Wednesday, March 14, 2012 at the Greg & Noreen Wells Hospice Care Center in Hazard, Ky. at the age of 93 years, 8 months & 22 days. Sophia was a life-long resident of Leslie Co. She was a homemaker, a member of the Hal's Fork Pentecostal Church & she enjoyed cooking & gardening. Sophia Holland was Preceded in Death by her Parents: Lige & Mary J. Bowling; her Husband: Jim Holland; one Son: Ed Holland; five Brothers: Dewey, Taylor, Jim, Emery & Willie; three Sisters: Sally, Relly & Ophia; one Son-In-Law: John Taylor Ledford. She leaves the following relatives surviving: two Sons: Kenneth "Pud" Holland & Bernett of Manchester, KY. & Denver Holland & Thelma of Middletown, OH.; two Daughters: Oda Ledford of Middletown, OH. & Lena Bishop & Clinton of Bear Branch, KY.; one Sister: Kay Holland of Bear Branch, KY.; one Daughter-In-Law: Jean Holland of Bear Branch, KY.; nine Grandchildren: Darrell Holland & Wanda, David Hawkins & Felicia, Eddie Holland & Tonya, Linda Beckner, Kathy Shiflet & Bobby, Kenny Holland & Lynn, Debbie McRoberts & Wade, Johnny Ledford & Tina and Sandra Garrison & Shag; 15 Great-Grandchildren & 3 Great-Great-Grandchildren. Also a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives & friends survive. Funeral service will be conducted on Friday, March 16, 2012 at 11:00 A.M. at the Hal's Fork Pentecostal Church at Bear Branch, KY. with Rev. J.D. Hensley & Rev. Jerry Holland officiating. Burial will follow in the Holland Family Cemetery at Bear Branch, KY. Visitation will be on Thursday at 6:00 P.M. at the Church. The following will serve as Pallbearers: Darrell Holland, Jason Holland, Ryan Holland, Eddie Holland, Johnny Holland, Kenny Holland & David Hawkins.
