The obituary of Mr. Donley Shepherd Officiating Ministers: Rev. Chuck Jack, Rev. James Bowling, Jr. and Rev. Jimmy Ward Mr. Donley Shepherd of 1289 Cat Hollow Rd. Roark, KY., passed away on November 25, 2012 at the Mary Breckinridge-ARH Hospital in Hyden, Ky.,at the age of 82 years, 11 months & 18 days. Donley was born on December 7, 1929, the son of the late Matt Shepherd & Elizabeth "Betty" Roark Shepherd. By occupation Donley was a retired logger. He was a member of the Bowens Creek United Baptist Church and had been a life-long resident of Leslie County. Donley enjoyed rabbit hunting and was a avid music lover & musician. He also enjoyed taking care of his horses and mules. Donley was preceded in death by his parents, Matt & Elizabeth Shepherd, four brothers: John, Sheldon, Lewis & McKinley; four sisters: May Phillips, Georgia Vaughn, Lucy Shepherd, and Louanna Shepherd He leaves the following relatives surviving: His loving & devoted wife: Helen Chappell Shepherd of Roark, KY., 2 sons: Lewis Shepherd & Elaine of Hoskinston, KY. & Donald Shepherd & Gloria of Owensboro, KY., 1 daughter: Betty Shepherd of Roark, KY., 1 sister: Gussie Mills of Evarts, KY., 3 grandchildren: Matt Woodburn Shepherd, Benjamin Donald Shepherd & Holly Marie Shepherd & 1 great-grandchild: Kimberly Shepherd. Funeral services for Mr. Donley Shepherd will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, November 29, 2012 at the Lower Jacks Creek United Methodist Church with Rev. Chuck Jack, Rev. James Bowling, Jr. and Rev. Jimmy Ward officiating. Burial will follow in the Oakley Cave Fork Cemetery at Roark, KY. Friends may call for visitation at 5:00p.m. Wednesday- November 28, 2012 at the church. The following will serve as pallbearers: Matt Shepherd, Ben Shepherd, Lewis Shepherd, Donald Shepherd, John Simpson & Devan Simpson.
