The Obituary of Mrs. Sylvia Brewer Bowling Officiating Minister: Keith Bowling Mrs. Sylvia Brewer Bowling was born on April 15, 1931 in Hyden, KY. and passed away on February 11, 2013 at the Mary Breckinridge ARH in Hyden, KY. Sylvia was 81 years of age and residing in Hyden, KY. at the time of her passing. She was the Daughter of the late Albert Brewer & the late Mallie Nantz and was the Widow of the late Dr. Gene Bowling. By occupation she was a retired Art teacher at Leslie County High School and was also the Owner of Sylvia's Flowers. She graduated with a Bachelor's of Arts Degree from Cumberland College. Sylvia was a lifelong resident of Leslie County and was affiliated with the Central Presbyterian Church. Sylvia enjoyed Senior Citizens, painting, drawing, gardening and traveling as hobbies. She also was a member of the Kentucky Teachers Association. She was Preceded in Death by her: Parents: Albert Brewer & Mallie Nantz Brewer; Husband: Dr. Gene Bowling; Sons: Gene Bowling, Jr., "Pudge", Richard Paul and John Phillip. Sylvia was the youngest of 12 children some of which are: Sisters: Hosea Feltner, Grace Napier, Mattie McGee & Lois; Brothers: Albert Jr. and Jack. Sylvia leaves the following relatives surviving: Son: Daniel Keith Bowling & Dessie of Hyden, KY.; Grandchildren: Gene D. Bowling "Jody" & Donna, Juda Rebecca Adams & Ed, Michael Bowling & Ginger and Brandy Whitis & Chase; Great Grandchildren: Zachary Adams, Nathan Adams, Bobbie Nantz, Breanna Bowling, Carleigh Whitis and Cooper Daniel Whitis. Funeral services for Mrs. Sylvia Brewer Bowling will be conducted on Wednesday ~ Feb. 13, 2013 at the Dwayne Walker Funeral Home at 1:00 P.M. with Keith Bowling officiating. Burial will follow in the Lewis~Chappell Cemetery in Hyden, KY. Visitation will be on Tuesday ~ February 12, 2013 from 6:00-8:00 P.M.
