He passed away on Sunday, January 5, 2014 at the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington, KY. at the age of 65 years, 3 months & 12 days. Owen was a life-long resident of Leslie Co., by occupation he was a former heavy equipment operator (strip mining & logging). Owen was a member of the Middlefork United Methodist Church at Helton, KY. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, spending time with his family & gospel music. Owen Howard Jr. was preceded in death by his parents: Owen Sr. & Zola Howard, brothers: Morris, Eugene & E.J. Howard, father-in-law: Rufus Short, sisters: Thelma Howard Taylor, Lena Mae Howard Brock, Dora Howard Brock & nephews: Dennis Brock, Shelby Brock, Stanley Michael Brock, Patrick Howard & brother-in-law: Eugene Brock. He leaves the following relatives surviving: wife of 37 years: Pansy Short Howard, Helton, KY., beloved mother-in-law: Lena Mae Short, Helton, KY., son: Vincent Stephen Howard and wife Rhonda, London, KY., Special friend: Kathy, daughter: Lena Evangeline Napier & Dennis, London, KY., brothers: Stanley Howard & Lillie, London, KY.,Donald Ray Howard & Phronie, Helton, KY., sister: Helen Harris & Gene, Big Laurel, KY., brother-in-laws:Lester Nolan, Robert Short, Jackie & Rev.
