The Obituary of Mr. Ronald "Ronnie" Melton Officiating Ministers: Mack Lewis & Tommy Fields Mr. Ronald "Ronnie" Melton was born on March 1, 1951 in Hazard, KY. and passed away on Wednesday ~ May 8, 2013 at his residence at 1272 Coon Creek Rd. ~ Wooton, KY. at the age of 62 years. Ronnie was the Son of the late Manuel Melton and the late June Hensley Melton. By occupation Ronnie was a retired Coal Miner working for Unicorn Mining. He was a lifelong resident of Leslie County and was a member of the Church of Christ. Ronnie was very active in his community and county. He served as the current President of the Leslie County Fire Chiefs Association, he was a current member and Chief of the Coon Creek Volunteer Fire Department, he was involved in the Pride Organization, he Commissioned as a Kentucky Colonel, he coached grade school football & basketball at W.B. Muncy Elementary, he volunteered running chains for Leslie County High School Football games for over 20 years, he was the Coordinator of the Leslie County Solid Waste and was a board member of the Leslie County Child Fatality Team. He was Preceded in Death by his beloved Parents: Manuel & June Hensley Melton; Brother: Sonny Melton; Infant Sister: Betty Melton; Sister-In-Law: Jerlene Melton; Nieces: Angela and Rose; Nephew: Marcus Bowling. Ronnie leaves the following relatives surviving: Son: Ronald Melton, Jr. & Peggy of Wooton, KY.; Daughters: Christy Asher & Ricky of Wooton, KY., Rhonda Sue Melton & Steve Olinger of Wooton, KY.; Linda Gail Colwell & D.J. of Wooton, KY. and Emily Nicole Stidham & Larry of Wooton, KY.; Special Friend: Ann Livelsburger of Wooton, KY.; Brothers: Ed Melton & Sue of Clay County, KY., Larry Melton of Wooton, KY., Glenn Melton & Linda of Sizerock, KY. and Rick Melton & Pam of Morristown, TN.; Twin Brother: Donald "Donnie" Melton & Sandra of Smilax, KY.; Sisters: Mildred Bowling & Jay of Wooton, KY., Prudy Stewart & Reed of Jeremiah, KY. and Deborah Pratt of Cornettsville, KY.; Grandchildren: Justin Melton, Brandon Melton, Marissa Melton, Melissa Shepherd, Aleshia Church, James Church, Aaron Dillion, Jacob Dillion, Jesse Colwell, D.D. Colwell, Blake Stidham and Dalton Stidham; Great Grandchildren: Preston Causey, Katelyn Shepherd, Jerrica Shepherd and Caden Shepherd. A host of Nieces, Nephews and other friends & relatives also survive. Funeral services for Mr. Ronald "Ronnie" Melton will be conducted on Sunday ~ May 12, 2013 at 2:00 P.M. at the Richard M. Nixon Center with Mack Lewis and Tommy Fields officiating. The interment will follow in the Hensley Cemetery in Hyden, KY. The following will serve as Pallbearers: Justin Ronald Melton, Brandon Charles Melton, James Church, Jacob Dillion, Ronnie Aaron, Russell Melton, Eddie Melton and Ronnie Melton, Jr. The following will serve as Honorary Pallbearers: Jesse Colwell, D.D. Colwell, Blake Stidham, Dalton Stidham and Bradee Davidson. Visitation will be conducted on Friday ~ May 10, 2013 from 6:00 - 9:00 P.M. and all day Saturday ~ May 11, 2013 at the Dwayne Walker Funeral Home.
