Rev. Ruth Roark

The obituary of Rev. Ruth Roark Officiating Minister: Rev. Geoffery Roberts Rev. Ruth Roark was born June 17, 1923 and departed this life on January 8, 2011 at the age of 87 years old. She was born at Jack's Creek, Kentucky the daughter of the late James Farmer Collett and the late Florence Eliza Gunn (Collett) Wilson. She was raised by her grandparents, Manford and Nan Collett. In 1937, she married her school teacher, Charles Roark. Ruth was the postmaster at the Mozelle, Post Office for 50 years. She was instrumental in the founding of the Mozelle Church of God where she was a pastor for 30 years. Rev. Ruth Roark was one of the first female pastors & evangelist to serve in Leslie Co. & Eastern Kentucky. She is preceded in death by her Parents: James Farmer Collett and Florence Eliza Gunn (Collett)Wilson, Husband: Charles Roark; Son: James Farmer and caregiver: Walter Brown. Ruth leaves surviving the following relatives: Daughters: Marcella Mullins of Waddy, KY. and Portia House & Larry of Nicholasville, KY.; Son: William Roark & Brenda of Huntsville, AL.; Caregiver: Ruby Nickerson of Florida; Grandchildren: Jessica Roark of Washington, D.C., Stephanie Keener & John of Boone, N.C., Aaron House of Frankfort, KY, Amy and Kaitlynn Roark both of Huntsville, AL. and Great Grandson: Calvin Keener of Boone, N.C., two sisters: Nancy Hartley & husband, Harry, of Bentonville, Arkansas, Evelyn Mosley of Hebron, Ky., two brothers: Bennett Collett of Floyds Knob, Indiana, Eugene Collett and wife, Bennie, of Franklin, North Carolina, & a host of other treasured relatives and friends. Funeral services for Rev. Ruth Roark will be held at 12:00 Noon Tuesday- January 11, 2011 at the Mozelle Church of God with Rev. Geoffery Roberts officiating. Burial will follow in the Roark Family Cemetery located at Mozelle, KY. The following will serve as pallbearers: Christopher Roberts, Dennis Brock, Derick Brock, Tim Whitehead, Jordan Whitehead, Matthew Hollon, Vance Mosley,Julius Roark, Timothy Roark, Bobby Turner, & Aaron House. The following will serve as Honorary pallbearers; Bryant Brock, Alvin Collett and Clifford Roark. Friends may call for visitation from 6:00p.m.-8:00p.m. Monday- January 10, 2011 at the Dwayne Walker Funeral Home Chapel and also from 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 noon on Tuesday at the Mozelle Church of God until the funeral hour.
