Paul Couch Mrs. Katie Howard was born on August 9, 1913 in Yerkes, KY. and departed this life on August 9, 2011 at the Hyden Health & Rehabilitation Center in Hyden, KY. She was 98 years of age and was residing at Krypton, KY. at the time of her passing. Katie was the Daughter of the late Andrew Colwell and the late Dora Colwell. By occupation she was a Homemaker. She was a lifelong resident of Perry County. She enjoyed cooking and baking as hobbies and was a Member of the Church of Christ. She was Preceded in Death by: Parents: Andrew & Dora Colwell; Husband: Rufus Howard; Son: Felix Howard; Daughter: Zona; Brother: Sam Colwell; Sisters: Hallie Colwell and Gracie Suthers. She leaves the following relatives surviving: Sons: Cecil Howard & Dianna of Busy, KY. and Esaw "Bill" Howard & Loretta of Dayton, OH.; Daughters: Rachel Nicely & Bob of Confluence, KY. and Hazel Baker of Stinnett, KY.; Brother: Roy Colwell of Florida; Sisters: Opsie McIntyre of Booneville, KY., Attie McDaniels of Stanton, KY., Merrell Baker of Krypton, KY. and Cybie Morris of Yerkes, KY.; Special Friend: Charles Wooton; 8 Grandchildren and 15 Great Grandchildren also survive. Funeral services for Mrs. Katie Howard will be conducted on Thursday ~ August 11, 2011 at 1:00 P.M. at the Dwayne Walker Funeral Home ~ Hyden, KY. with Rev. Paul Couch officiating. Burial will follow in the Baker Cemetery ~ Busy, KY. The following will serve as Pallbearers: Darryl Stidham, Arlie Stidham, Charlie Wooton, Bob Smith, Gary Howard and Ray Farler.
