The Obituary for Mrs. Mary Jane Adams Officiating Ministers: Larry Fish, Chris Sale & Tony Little Mrs. Mary Jane Adams born February 26, 1942, departed this life on Tuesday, December 11, 2012, at the Markey Cancer Center. She was 70 years old. Mary Jane was born in Huntington, West Virginia, the daughter of the late Frank Owens and Madge Butler Owens. Mary Jane received her undergraduate degree from Marshall University & her Master's Degree and Rank I from Union College. She had a very distinguished career as an educator. She retired with 20 years of service, the majority at Hayes Lewis Elementary. She was a member of the Ky. Retired Teacher Association & commissioned as a Kentucky Colonel. Mary Jane worked with Camp Nathaniel, the Pritchard Commitee, Center for Rural Development, Forward and the Fifth, and was also very active in her community. She served as chairman of Kentuckians For The Commonwealth, and was instrumental in initiating legislation benefiting many landowners pertaining to Broad Form Deed issues. Mary Jane and her husband, Raleigh, resided at Emmalena, Ky. from 1965-1971 and have been residents of Leslie Co., Ky. since 1971. She was living at 509 Long Branch Road, Wooton, Ky at the time of her death. Mary Jane was a devoted member of the Cutshin Bible Church, Yeaddiss, Ky. Mary Jane was preceded in death by her parents: Frank and Madge Butler Owens. Mrs. Mary Jane Adams is survived by her loving and devoted husband: Raleigh Adams of Yeaddiss, Ky., one son: Richard Adams and wife, Shannon, of London, Ky., one daughter: Leah Pittman and husband, Joey, of Pawley's Island, South Carolina, five treasured grandchildren: Drew Pittman, Raleigh Pittman, Brittiny Wilson, Tori Adams & Ryanne Adams. The funeral service for Mrs. Mary Jane Adams, will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. - Saturday - December 15, 2012 at the Cutshin Bible Church with Larry Fish, Chris Sale & Tony Little officiating. The interment will follow in the Adams Family Cemetery, Long Branch Road. Friends may call from 6:00-9:00 p.m. - Friday, December 14, 2012 at the Cutshin Bible Church.
