Mike Johnson Pastor Pearl Baker born September 23, 1923 departed this life on Saturday, November 13, 2010 at the Hazard Appalachian Regional Medical Center, Hazard, Ky. He was 87 years, 1 month, and 20 days old. Pearl was born in Beatty Branch, Cutshin, Ky., the son of the late Ishamael Baker & Elsie Baker Williams. Pearl was a retired coal miner. Pearl & his father, Ishmael founded the Church of God in Jesus Name at Big Rock in Persimmon Fork in 1960. Pearl served as the pastor of the church until his recent retirement. Pastor Pearl Baker was preceded in death by his parents, his loving and devoted wife: Alwilda Hamilton Baker, five children: Frankie Mae Baker Coots, Pauline Baker Coots, Tina Baker Bowling, Carlos Baker, I.D. Baker, sisters: Edna Baker Carroll, Nancy Jane Baker Cornett, Tina Tiny Baker France, brothers: Farmer & Hobert Baker, & three great, great, grandchildren. Pastor Pearl Baker leaves following relatives surviving: two sons: Eugene Baker and wife, Kathleen of Slemp, Ky., Pearl Baker and wife, Michelle, of Yeaddiss, Ky.,one daughter: Louise Baker Toffer and husband, Mearl. of Maynardville, Tennessee,, one brother: Earnest Baker & Wife Shelby of Yeaddiss, Ky., one sister: Sophia Baker of Yeaddiss, Ky., 27 grandchildren, 53 great - grandchildren, 42 great, great, grandchildren and a host of other treasured nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. The funeral service for Pastor Pearl Baker will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. - Tuesday - November 16, 2010 at the Church of God in Jesus Name at Big Rock,in Persimmon Fork, Yeaddiss, Ky., with Rev. Jerry Lewis & Rev. Mike Johnson officiating. The interment will follow in the Ishmael Baker Cemetery, Persimmon Fork, Yeaddiss, Ky. Friends may call for visitation after 6:00 p.m. - Sunday - November 14, 2010 at the Slemp Church of the Lord Jesus Christ, & after 2:00 p.m. - Monday - November 15, 2010 at the Church of God in Jesus Name at Big Rock in Persimmon Fork, Yeaddiss, Ky., until the funeral hour @ 1:00 p.m. -Tuesday.
