The Obituary of Mrs. Vanda Deaton Horton Officiating Ministers: Rev. Ben Swenson and Robbie Horton Vanda was born on December 21, 1938 in Glomar, KY. (Perry County) and passed away on Monday, May 28, 2012 at her residence at 23081 Hwy. 421, Hyden, KY. She was 73 years, 5 months and 7 days of age at the time of her passing. She was the Daughter of the late Estill Deaton and the late Cappie Morgan Deaton. By occupation Vanda was a Retired Teacher & Librarian at Leslie County High School for 39 1/2 years of service. Vanda was a Graduate of Eastern Kentucky University. She was a Member of the Red Hat Society, Leslie County Teachers Association and Homemakers Club. She was involved in volunteer work in Leslie County including Leslie County Fish & Game Club. She spent her formative years in Perry County until age 14 and resided in Leslie County until her passing. Vanda was of the Christian Faith and attended the Muncy Creek Baptist Church. She enjoyed cooking, reading, taking care of family & friends, traveling, sewing, crafts & candy making. Vanda was Preceded in Death by Parents: Estill Deaton & Cappie Morgan Deaton; Sister: Tosena Brashear; 1 Infant Brother. She leaves the following relatives surviving: Daughter: Diana Glay Duff & Marcus R. Duff of Hoskinston, KY.; Son: Estill Lynn Horton & Roselle of Frankfort, IL.; Grandchildren: Marcus Lawrence Duff, Elizabeth LeighAnna Duff, Amber Rose Horton, Briana Rose Horton, Stephanie Rose Ludolph & George Ludolph IV; Great Grandchildren: George Ludolph V and Leo James Ludolph. Funeral services for Mrs. Vanda Deaton Horton will be conducted on Saturday ~ June 2, 2012 at 1:00 P.M. at the Dwayne Walker Funeral Home ~ Hyden, KY. with Rev. Ben Swenson and Robbie Horton officiating. Burial will follow in the Morgan~Begley Family Cemetery ~ Hyden, KY. Visitation will be on Friday ~ June 1, 2012 at the Dwayne Walker Funeral Home beginning at 5:00 P.M. Rev. Ronnie Melton will have a Closing Prayer at the end of the Visitation.
