The Obituary of Mr. Filmore Sandlin, Sr. Officiating Ministers: Rev. Eugene Roberts and Rev. John Asher Mr. Filmore Sandlin, Sr. was born on March 3, 1921 and departed this life on June 1, 2010 at the Hazard ARH Medical Center at the age of 89 years. He was the son of the late John Sandlin and the late Hallie Wooton. He was a lifelong resident of Leslie County. By occupation he was a retired saw mill employee, a public works employee and a self employed carpenter. He was a World War II Veteran. He was a member of the Lower Middlefork Pentecostal Church at Asher, KY. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, going to church and farming, especially poultry and hogs. Filmore was preceded in death by: his parents; wife: Bertha Hubbard Sandlin; brothers: Russell and John Jr. Sandlin. He leaves the following relatives surviving: four sons: Clayton Sandlin & Victoria of Flint, MI., Philmore Sandlin, Jr. & Carolyn of Asher, KY., Donald Sandlin & Cindy of Asher, KY. and Michael Sandlin & Rita of Warbranch, KY.; two daughters: Eva Squires & Howard of Michigan and Mary A. Hembree & Michael of Kansas City, KS.; brother: Charlie Sandlin of Ohio; sister: Juanita Cornett of Ohio; twenty grandchildren and thirty two great grandchildren. Funeral services for Mr. Filmore Sandlin, Sr. will be conducted on Saturday - June 5, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. at the Lower Middlefork Pentecostal Church with Rev. Eugene Roberts and Rev. John Asher officiating. Burial will follow the funeral service at the Sandlin Family Cemetery at Asher, KY. where there will be Full Military Rites observed by the Leslie County DAV Chapter #133. The following will serve as pallbearers: Marty Sandlin, Matthew Sandlin, Aaron Sandlin, Michael Hembree, Lonnie Green, David Wilson and Nick Sandlin. Visitation will be on Thursday - June 3, 2010 at the Dwayne Walker Funeral Home Chapel at 5:00 P.M., Friday - June 4, 2010 at 4:00 P.M. at the Lower Middlefork Pentecostal Church.
