The obituary of Mrs. Rachel Causey Pennington Officiating Minister: Rev. Billy Joe Lewis Mrs. Rachel Causey Pennington born September 15, 1918 departed this life on August 27, 2008 at the Hazard Appalachian Regional Medical Center, Hazard, Ky. She was 89 years, 11 months, and 14 days old. Mrs. Pennington was born in Leslie Co. Ky., the daughter of the late Steve Causey & Sarah Belle Callahan Causey. She was a member of the Full Gospel Church of Jesus Christ, Smilax, Ky. Mrs. Pennington was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, & friend to all. Her hobbies were traveling, flower & vegetable gardening, and taking care of her children and grandchildren. Mrs. Pennington was a life-long resident of Leslie Co. Mrs. Rachel Pennington was preceded in death by her parents: Bradley Pennington & Sarah Belle Callahan Causey, her husband, Bradley Pennington, on Jan. 7, 1972, one son: Bradley Carl Pennington, one daughter: Sarah Belle Pennington, one grandson: Chris Pennington,, & two granddaughters: Angie Carol Pennington and Kristie Lee Pennington. Mrs. Rachel Causey Pennington leaves the following relatives surviving: five sons: Elhannon Pennington & wife, Rosie, of Liberty, Ky., James Pennington and wife, Wilma, of Manchester, Ky., Lonnie Pennington and wife, Donna, Harold Pennington and wife, Carolina, Darrell Pennington and wife, Elizabeth all of Hazard, Ky. eight daughters: Perlina Fugate and husband, Larry, of Round Lake, Illinois, Frances Napier, Gladys Pennington and husband, Elisha, Helen Meyers, Jewel Harkins and husband, Eddie, Pauline Begley and husband, C.W., Essie Pennington, Eulene Miller and husband, Larry, all of Hazard, Ky., one granddaughter she raised as her own: Tammy Greely and husband, Robert, of Hazard, Ky. Four brothers: James & Felix Causey of Annville, Ky.,Homer Causey of Wooton, Clarence Causey of Ohio, one sister: Perlina Stidham of North Carolina, 41 grandchildren, 49 great grandchildren, 10 great, great, grandchildren, and a host of treasured nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends to mourn her death. The funeral service of Mrs. Rachel Causey Pennington will be conducted 1:00 p.m. - Friday, August 29, 2008, at the Full Gospel Church of Jesus Christ, Smilax, Ky., with Rev. Billy Joe Lewis & Rev. Clemmie Joseph officiating. The interment will follow in the Hurricane Cemetery, Hyden, Ky., under the direction of the Dwayne Walker Funeral Home Staff.
