Bill Valentine of Confluence, KY. passed away Tuesday, January 8, 2019 at the Mary Breckinridge-ARH Hospital in Hyden, KY. at the age of 84. Bill was born April 9, 1934 in Perry Co., KY., the son of the late, Ernest Valentine & Louella Huff Valentine. Bill had been a life-long resident of Leslie Co. By occupation Bill was a retired coal miner from Shamrock Coal Co. He also served as Magistrate for the Leslie Co. Fiscal Court for one term. It was during his term as magistrate that Bill helped in getting the Hurricane Mine Memorial started. He was affiliated with the Victory Mountain Grace Brethren Chapel at Confluence. His hobbies included knife collecting, whittling, visiting with his buddies on the Courthouse corner in Hyden.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Loretta Upesleja, one grandson, Phillip Valentine & one granddaughter, Rebecca Paige Smith. He is survived by his loving & devoted wife, Lois Jean Henson Valentine of Confluence, KY., 6 beloved children, Teresa Valentine Napier & husband, Lonnie of Hyden, KY., Connie Valentine & husband, Robin Stamper of Astor, Florida, Rod Valentine & wife, Jan of Warsaw, Indiana, Nita Valentine Smith of Santee, South Carolina, Pam Valentine Cox & husband, Danny of Wooton, KY. & Karen Valentine Wells & husband, Tim of Hyden, KY.. two brothers, Elmer Valentine, Cincinnati, Ohio & Chester Valentine & wife, Lulu of Elizabethtown, KY., one sister, Laura Jean Jones & husband, Bill of Raywick, KY., eight treasured grandchildren, Jason Napier, Whitney Napier, Chris Valentine, Jamie Valentine Pollard, Tyler Wells, Trevor Wells, Alexis Feltner & Alex Feltner & nine great-grandchildren. Also a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives & friends survive.
