Brent Douglas Wooton

Brent Douglas Wooton, the son of Charlene Wooton Smith and Robert B. Melton, passed away Sunday, June 26, 2022 in Winchester, KY.  Brent was 40 years old.

Brent was preceded in death by his, maternal grandparents, Marcus & Edith Roberts Wooton, maternal great-grandparents, Burchel & Alta Mae Huff Wooton & Golden & Flora Sizemore Roberts, paternal grandparents, Robert Carl “Bobby” Melton & June Walters Shepherd, paternal great-grandparents, Carl & Marie Melton & Canie & Dora Lee Smith Walters.  He leaves the following relatives surviving; beloved mother, Charlene Wooton Smith, London, KY, beloved father, Robert B. Melton & Melanie, Camden, OH, cherished daughter, Gracey Addison Wooton, Hyden, KY, brothers, Christopher Melton & Andrea and Joshua Melton & Brittany, nephew, Ryan, nieces, Harper and Lillian, maternal uncle, Gene Douglas Wooton & Darlene, maternal aunts, Marcella Horton & Robby and Carla Whitehead & Roy, paternal uncle, Richard Melton, paternal aunts, Connie Sizemore & Dennis, Dee Dee Miller, Susan Melton & Roelot, Bridget Bowling & Rick, Amy Couch & Nick and a host of cousins survive.

Born February 9th 1982, in Hazard, KY.  Brent grew up on Rockhouse, his fearless, adventurous, and caring nature was on full display at a very young age.  Brent would catch snakes and fish with his hands, gig in full daylight,  and ride 4-wheelers like there was no tomorrow. 

Brent loved spending time with his friends and family, he was empathetic, an advocate, and an inspirer.  He was able to connect with anyone. Brent gave everyone an appreciation for being themselves.  He was the best at finding the positives in any situation.  His pranks and generosity kept everything exciting and memorable.  Brent’s personality and nature was the perfect fit for the Christmas season.  He loved taking the extra step in buying gifts and bringing his loved ones together.  His family will never forget the infamous Christmas Eves of 2009 and 2011.

Beyond all the bold adventures and cunning pranks, his rare character and values shined brightest in his passionate pride and undying love for his daughter, Gracey Wooton.

Funeral: Friday, July 1, 2022 at 1:00 P.M. at the Dwayne Walker Funeral Home, Hyden, KY.

Minister: Ted Couch

Interment: Hurricane Cemetery, Hyden, KY.
