Charlotte Lewis

Ms. Charlotte Lewis of Smilax, KY formerly of Greenville, KY born November 5, 1948 departed this life on  Saturday-Feb. 16, 2019 at her residence. She was 70 years old. Charlotte was born at Smilax, Ky., the daughter of the late Willie and Linda Lewis.  Charlotte was a graduate of the class of 1965 at Leslie County High School and a graduate of the class of 1969 from Union College of Barbourville, Ky. She was commissioned as a Kentucky Colonel, a member of the Greenville Republican Women's Club & various other clubs and organizations.  The majority of Charlotte's working career was spent at the house of Onyx in Greenville, Ky.  She began her distinguished career there in 1973 as office manager and continued until 2014 when illness forced her to retire.  The House of Onyx was the joy of her life. Charlotte enjoyed reading, watching movies, quilt collecting, but her greatest joy came from working.  Work provided her the income she needed in order to be the generous human being she was. Ms. Charlotte Lewis was preceded in death by her beloved parents; Willie and Linda Sizemore Lewis, maternal grandparents; Harmon and Mallie Sizemore, paternal grandparents; Taylor and Manvera Lewis, brother; William Douglas Lewis & sister; Patricia Gail Lewis.  Ms. Charlotte Lewis leaves the following relatives surviving; three loving and devoted sisters; Loretta Lankford of Louisville, Ky., Kathy Colwell and Denver of Smilax, Ky., Sandy Lewis of Smilax, Ky., niece; Jocelyn Colwell White and husband, Russell of Smilax, Ky., nephews; Jared Colwell of Smilax, Ky., Dwight Lankford & wife, Lori of Louisville, Ky., Jason Lankford of Louisville, Ky., Kyle Lankford and wife, Laci of Louisville, Ky., 12 Great nieces and nephews, along with several aunts and uncles.  Charlotte also leaves behind many, many, treasured, special friends in the town of Greenville, Ky., as well as around the world.
