The obituary of Mrs. China Marie Roark.

      Mrs. China Marie Roark departed this walk of life on Saturday, January 28, 2023 at the Manchester Advent Hospital at the age of 89 years old. She was born on January 28, 1934  at Beverly, KY the daughter of the late James Farmer Asher and the late Matilda Saylor Asher.  Marie was as an early childhood teacher at Red Bird School for 8-9 years and then worked as a cook at Red Bird Mission School until her retirement in her 70's.  She was a dedicated member of the Lower Jack's Creek United Methodist Church and had been a resident of Leslie County, KY. Marie had many hobbies including walking, reading, canning, and freezing food, watching game shows and cooking on Sundays for her large family gatherings. She especially enjoyed rocking her grandchildren when they would visit with her. Marie was preceded in death by her parents James Farmer Asher and Matilda Saylor Asher, siblings, Wilk, Julie, Ray, Luther, Violet, Ruby, A.J., Nettie , Jimmy, Bob, Mary and Ford. She leaves surviving the following relatives, her loving and devoted husband of 69 years of marriage: Taylor Roark of Roark, KY, two loving sons: Jeffery Taylor Roark and Herman Ray Roark & (Mossie Renee), both of Roark, KY, three loving daughters, Matilda Lynn Napier & (David) of Roark, KY, Edith Marie Jones & (Larry) of East Bernstadt, KY, and Amy Sheryl Asher of Roark, KY, 13 treasured grandchildren, Tara Renee Napier, Jeffery Galen Roark, Joshua Durand Roark, Zebulon Cole Roark, James Farmer Asher, Rebecca Marie Asher, Troy Brandon Asher, Jasmine Marie Chappell, Jessa Layne Asher, Morgan Brianna Bowling, Jericho Taylor Asher, Maci Alayna Gray & Olivia Marie Roark. FUNERAL SERVICES:  2:00 p.m. - Friday, Feb. 3, 2023 at the Lower Jack's Creek United Methodist Church at Roark, KY

VISITATION: 5:00 p.m. - Thursday, Feb. 2, 2023 at the church.

OFFICIATING MINISTER: Rev. Jim Savage

PLACE OF INTERMENT: Old Roark Cemetery at Roark, KY

PALLBEARERS: Jeffery Galen Roark, Taylor Asher, Troy Brandon Asher, Zebulon Roark, James Farmer Asher, Joshua Roark, Jagger Bowling, Hunter Gray and J. T. Walker.
