Mr. Clarence "Sunshine" Engle born June 28, 1933 departed this life on Sunday, December 6, 2020 at the Bourbon Community Hospital, Paris, Ky. He was 87 years old. Clarence was born at Daley, Ky., the son of the late Lillie Engle and Vycie Roberts Engle. Clarence had a very distinguished career in the coal mining industry. He was employed as a coal miner for 36 years, the majority of this he worked at Blue Diamond Coal Company, Leatherwood, Ky. Clarence was a dedicated Christian & member of the Cutshin Bible Church, Yeaddiss, Ky. He served as a deacon since 1977, taught Sunday School & was a member of the men's singing group. Clarence was very patriotic and community minded. He served honorably in the United States Army during the Korean War. Clarence continued his service locally as a dedicated life - time member of the Leslie Co. D.A.V. Chapter # 133. He served as Chaplain and his commitment to this organization was evident and unwavering. Clarence often attended meetings and funerals when in ill health. Clarence had a genuine love for Bluegrass Music. He was the oldest member to attend the Ky. School of Bluegrass and Traditional Music during the time he was enrolled. He studied individual string lessons and played the banjo. Mr. Clarence Engle was preceded in death by his parents; Lillie & Vycie Roberts Engle & two brothers; Johnnie & Harold Engle. Mr. Clarence Engle leaves the following relatives surviving: his loving and devoted wife; Josephine Lewis Engle, to whom he was married on June 25, 1955, three beloved daughters; Rhonda Brashear and husband, Fred of Hyden, Ky., Janice Kilburn & husband, Karl of Paris, Ky., Dinah Scott and husband, David, of Lago Vista, Texas, two brothers; James Engle and wife, Barbara of East Bernstadt, Ky., Gary Engle and wife, Carolyn of Newport, Ky., seven sisters; Edna Pennington of Newport, Ky., Bessie Baker of Hazard, Ky., Shirley Henson and Mason of Lost Creek, Ky., Sharon Maggard and husband, Donald of Cutshin, Ky., Wanda Collett and husband, Richard of Fairborne, Ohio, Alphia Lewis and husband, Larry of Smilax, Ky. and Brenda Coots and husband, Billy Ray Coots of Smilax, Ky., Sister-in-law; Lena Engle of London, Ky., six treasured grandchildren; Joel Brashear and wife, Tracie, Kristy Carter and husband, John, Rachel Combs and husband, John Christopher "Chris", Salena Hurter and husband, John Louis, Amanda Scott, Alex Scott & wife, Cammi, eight treasured great-grandchildren; William Frederick Brashear III "Tripp", Chloe Brashear, Clark Brashear, Juliana Combs, Jaxen Combs, Jensen Combs, Max Carter, Kit Carter, and one on the way, "Baby Hurter", & a host of other relatives and friends.
