Clay Morgan

Mr. Clay Morgan of Short Creek in Hyden born March 27, 1947, passed away Thursday, September 30, 2021 at the Hazard ARH Medical Center. He was 74 years old. Clay was born at Hyden, KY., the son of the late, Homer Morgan & Ollie Couch Morgan. Clay received his associate degree from Cumberland College.  He had been a life-long resident of Leslie Co. Clay had worked as a welder, truck driver (owner & operator) and retired from Gary Goode Trucking. He was affiliated with the Bowens Creek United Baptist Church. Clay enjoyed fishing, going to Realfoot Lake, traveling, feeding birds & wildlife, cookouts, flea markets, cooking and spending time with his family. 

Clay was preceded in death by his beloved parents, loving & devoted wife, Carolyn, beloved daughters, Kathy Jo & Tammy, treasured grandson, Cody Kemp, treasured great grandson, Lance Rollings, half brothers, George Smallwood, Jess Smallwood, Leslie & William Smallwood and half sister, Martha Gilbert. He leaves the following relatives surviving; one beloved daughter, Lisa Morgan, Hyden, KY., half sister, Alpha Pruett, Louisville, KY., two treasured grandchildren, Joseph Rollings, Brandon Kemp, four treasured great grandchildren, Isaiah Rollings, Morgan Kemp, Maddie Kemp, Kayden Kemp & step, great grandson, Kentyn Lee & special friend and companion; Helen Ruth Ratliff Ford. Also a host of other relatives & friends survive. 

Funeral: Saturday, October 9, 2021 at 2:00 P.M. at the Dwayne Walker Funeral Home, Hyden, KY.

Minister: Willie Garrett Morgan

Interment: Garrett Morgan Cemetery (Short Creek Road), Hyden, KY.

Pallbearers: Randall Johnson, Brandon Kemp, Keith Hensley, Mike Kemp, Roger Smallwood and Tammie Jo House

Visitation: Friday, October 8, 2021 at 4:00 P.M. at the Funeral Home Chapel
