Curtiss Wooton, Jr.

Mr. Curtiss Wooton, Jr. passed away Monday, June 7, 2021 at the Highlands ARH Medical Center in Prestonburg, KY. He was 87 years old. Curtiss was born November 23, 1933 in Harlan, KY., the son of the late, Tom Cat Wooton and Nola Vanover Wooton. He had been a life-long resident of Leslie Co. By occupation he was a retired coal miner having worked for 40 years for Whitaker Coal Co. Curtiss enjoyed woodworking, fishing, word puzzles, bluegrass music and UK sports. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family.

Curtiss was preceded in death by his beloved parents, one brother and a host of sisters. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Shirley Baker Wooton whom he married on December 31, 1958, two cherished daughters, Kathleen W. Colvin, London, KY. and Teresa W. Herd, London, KY., one treasured grandson, Curtiss G. Herd and wife, Sarah, Nancy, KY. and two treasured great grandchildren, Devon Michelle and Olivia Jane. Also a host of loving nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends survive.

Funeral: Saturday, June 12, 2021 at 1:00 P.M. at the Dwayne Walker Funeral Home, Hyden, KY.

Minister: Danny Day

Interment: Baker Family Cemetery, Wooton, KY.

Visitation: Saturday, June 12th at 11:00 A.M. until time of funeral at the funeral home chapel.
