Daisy was born on October 16, 1931, to Ella Sizemore and Gillie Bowling in Jason, Ky, in Leslie County. She attended elementary school in Hyden, Ky. She graduated from Hazard High School and attended the University of Kentucky for 2 years in the school of nursing. She married Edward Allen Mattingly on July 16, 1951. She and Eddie raised a family of four children in Hyden, Ky. During those years Daisy worked in several community mental health centers as a social worker and supervisor. Daisy was a passionate advocate of the elderly and the poor.
In 1984, Daisy and Eddie moved to London, KY, where she quickly became involved with the London community, joining many of the local clubs and organizations She and Eddie were active members of the First Baptist Church of London.
Daisy enjoyed socializing, traveling, entertaining, gardening, and politics. She had an eye for fashion and style and was known for her impeccable appearance and outgoing personality.
Daisy was proceeded in death by her younger sister, Joann Bowling, her father, Gillie Bowling, her mother, Ella Sizemore Purdy, and her husband, Edward Allen Mattingly.
Daisy leaves behind her loving children:
Her daughter Delores Deaton and husband Keithly Deaton
Her daughter Joann Kells and late husband Bruce Kells
Her son Paul Allen Mattingly and wife Laura Lee Mattingly
Her daughter Tracy Lee Miller and husband Oscar Miller
Daisy also leaves behind the following grandchildren: Morgan Feldman, Conrad Cessna, Mica Kells, Christoper Cessna, Montana Miller, Rachel Mattingly and Cheyene Miller and Candis Fox. Daisy had 9 great-grandchildren and a host of other family and friends, including her devoted friends Lois Valentine and Annie Thompson, her loving sister-in-law Ronnie Carol Stewart and special cousin Audrey Blevins.
Funeral services for Daisy will be held at the London Funeral Home in London, Ky on Thursday, April 18, 2024. Visitation for family will be at 10am. The public visitation will be from 11am-1pm, with the funeral service from 1-2pm. Entombment at AR Dyche Cemetery will follow the service.
In lieu of flowers, donations to Saint Jude’s Children’s Hospital will be appreciated.
