The Obituary of Drucilla Johnson Howard.
Mrs. Drucilla Johnson Howard, age 85, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, May 15, 2022. She was born on January 11, 1937 at Hyden, Ky the daughter of the late Claude Johnson and the late Rhoda Gibson Johnson. Drucilla graduated from Leslie County High School in 1956 as Valedictorian of her class. After graduating she moved to Cincinnati, OH where she worked for Bell Telephone Company and also a meat packing company. She returned to Leslie County and later married Claybern Howard a Korean War Veteran. Along with raising her four children Drucilla worked for FNS and Mary Breckinridge for over 40 Years. She was affiliated with the Hurts Creek Church of Christ and enjoyed going to church. Drucilla obtained her associate degree of science at the age of 60, and was going to enter the nursing program but was unable to due to the sickness of a daughter. She took care of her mother who had been bedfast for over 20 years. Some of her fondest joys were going to the lake, although she was afraid of water, traveling, her flowers, canning and especially spending time with her children and grandchildren. Drucilla was preceded in death by her parents, husband: Claybern Howard, three children: Jimmy R. Johnson, Joyce A. Howard, Margaret R. Howard. three grandchildren: Shawn Caldwell, Mitchell Madden , April Howard, 1 great great grandchild; Timothy Darrell Zane Caldwell, four brothers, Tester Johnson, Earl Johnson, Everette Johnson, and Arbert Johnson one sister, Hazel Hoskins & two sisters-in-law, Gladys Johnson & Cora Johnson. Drucilla Johnson Howard leaves the following relatives suriviving, one loving daughter Deanna Caldwell and husband, Ralph of Hyden, Ky., one daughter-in-law, Lillian Miniard, and one brother-in-law,Eugene Hoskins. Twelve cherished grandchildren, Timmy Caldwell and Raegan, Jimmy R. Caldwell, Howard Johnson, Maranda Portwood and Gary, Scotty Howard, Amy Smith & Jamiee, Amber Huy & Jeremy, Gary Michael Miniard, Billie Madden & Wayne, James Madden, Jessica Madden, Stephanie Adams, two nieces she always said they were as close as sisters, Donna Gaddis & Daryl, Judy Hoke and John, also a host of other relatives and friends.
