Edith Joseph Johnson

Mrs. Edith Joseph Johnson of Confluence, KY, died at her home on Monday, October 19, 2020. She was 93 years old and a lifelong resident of Leslie County, KY.Edith was born, July 29, 1927 at Wooton, KY., the daughter of the late, Phillip Joseph & Sally Roberts Joseph. She was a homemaker and in earlier years employed by Frontier Nursing Service (FNS). She was a member of Confluence Baptist Church and a member of the local DAV and served on the LKLP Board. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandkids. She loved gardening, quilting, singing, and listening to gospel music and also sang in her church choir. Edith was the eldest and most respected citizen in and out of her river community of Confluence and will be missed by those lives she touched.

Edith was preceded in death by her husband, Emery Johnson, Son, Ray Johnson, Grandson, William Christopher Humble, Sr., Parents, Phillip & Sallie Joseph, three brothers, Ernest, Bill, and Raymond Joseph, and one sister, Kathryn Wooten. Edith is survived by two daughters, Vada & Doug Hornsby of Hazard KY, Anita & Bruce Smallwood of London  KY, five sons, Randall Johnson & Melissa Williams of Confluence KY, David & Patricia Johnson of Hazard KY, James Johnson & Roxanne Eversole of Richmond IN, John Johnson of West Liberty KY, Johnny & Katrina Johnson, Indianapolis, IN, step-daughter Shirley Spurlock of London KY, step-son Owen “Bud” Johnson & Gerald Johnson, two sisters, Wanda Faye Baker and Hallie Joseph of Hyden KY, special granddaughter and caretaker, Melissa Johnson Bailey of Confluence, special niece and caretaker, Linda Carol Johnson of Confluence KY, special grandchild Cindy Hornsby of Hazard KY, and special grandchild Daxton Bailey of Confluence KY. She is survived by 22 grandchildren, 17 Great-grandchildren, and 14 Great-Great grandchildren.

Funeral: Friday, October 23, 2020 at 1:00 P.M. at the Confluence Baptist Church at Confluence, KY.
