Edna Griffin, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully at her home on December 26, 2024, at the age of 83. Born on June 20, 1941, Edna was known for her friendly and outgoing personality, which touched the lives of many around her.
Throughout her life, Edna demonstrated exceptional talent in her career as a seamstress. She was not only skilled with a needle and thread but also had a passion for sewing and thrifting, often creating beautiful pieces that became cherished items among family and friends. Her creative spirit was evident in everything she made, and her work showcased her dedication to her craft.
Edna’s proudest accomplishments included being a loving wife, nurturing mother, devoted grandmother, and adoring great-grandmother. Her family was her world, and she took immense pride in her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, forming an unbreakable bond with each of them.
She is survived by her special friend: James Henson; sons, Leslie Griffin (Regina), and Seth Griffin; her daughters, Martha Dennise Gilbert, Jody Griffin, and Melissa Langford (Benny); her brothers, Woody Bowling (Geraldine), Harold Bowling (Linda), Dennis 'Buddy' Bowling, and sisters, Carrie Napier, Sally Gillespie, Lois Smith, and Michelle Howard (Shayne). Grandchildren: Brittanie, Jacob, Felicia, Joshua, Hooch, Sebastian, Griffin, Colton, Brianna, Misty, and Samantha, along with her ten great-grandchildren who brought joy and laughter into her life.
Edna was preceded in death by her husband, Lester Griffin; her brother, J.C. Bowling; brothers Dennis, Cleve, and Charles Bowling; her sister, Mary Ruth Sword; and her grandchildren Jacob, Brianna, Misty, and Samantha Griffin, as well as Felix Gilbert, her son-in-law.
A visitation in her memory will be held on December 29, 2024, starting at 6:00 PM at the Flat Creek Church of the Brethren, located at 76 Brethren Church Rd, Big Creek, KY 40914. Following this, a funeral service will take place on December 30, 2024, at 2:00 PM, at the same location with officiating ministers Rev. Dwayne Yost and Rev. Larry Stubblefield.
Edna Griffin leaves behind a legacy of love, creativity, and warmth that will resonate in the hearts of all who knew her. Her spirit will forever remain a guiding light for her family and friends.
