Edna Brashear Pace, a beloved member of the community and a dedicated educator, passed away peacefully at her residence Thousandsticks, Kentucky on November 4, 2024. Born on February 19, 1949 Wendover, Kentucky, Edna the daughter of Elmer S. Brashear and Ruby Shell Brashear, both of whom predeceased her. She was also preceded in death by a sister and her husband, Pat and Clayton Bowling & brother-in-law, John Smith
With a passion for teaching and the arts, Edna had an illustrious career as an art teacher with the Leslie County School System. She began her teaching journey at Hayes Lewis Elementary School before dedicating the majority of her career to Leslie County High School. In addition to her role in the public school system, Edna also shared her artistic talents as an instructor at Hazard Community College in Hazard, Kentucky, nurturing the creative spirits of many students along the way.
Edna's love for art transcended the classroom; she was an avid painter and craft enthusiast. Her artistic prowess mirrored her zest for life, which she expressed through her hobbies. Fishing with her husband, Ira Dean Pace, was among her cherished pastimes. He fondly referred to her as his best fishing partner, a testament to their deep companionship. Alongside art and fishing, Edna also found joy in cooking and spending quality time with family, embodying the very essence of love and nurturing.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Ira Dean Pace, and her two daughters, Patty Pace and Elizabeth Pace. Edna also leaves behind her brother, Bill Brashear, sister, Emma Smith, brother-in-law, William Pace, and a host of other relatives and friends who will remember her warmth and kindness.
Edna Pace's legacy of creativity and compassion will continue to inspire those who had the privilege of knowing her, and her memory will always be held dear in the hearts of her family and friends.
