It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Elmer Madden, a retired Coal Miner who touched the lives of many with his kindness and strength. Elmer was born on March 22, 1959, in Yeaddiss, KY, to his loving parents Noah Madden and Jenny Clark Madden. On April 3, 2024, he peacefully departed from this world at Hazard ARH Hospital. Throughout his life, Elmer found joy in simple pleasures such as watching westerns on T.V., riding four-wheelers, collecting guns, and participating in shooting matches. However, his proudest accomplishments were the moments spent surrounded by his beloved family at special gatherings.
Elmer is now reunited in heaven with his parents, Noah and Jenny Madden, as well as his two brothers, Jimmy Lee Madden and Montgomery Madden. He leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories that will forever live on through those who knew and loved him. Elmer is survived by his cherished son Elmer Steven Madden and wife Joanie of Manchester, KY; two beloved daughters, Samantha Hays and husband Wayne of Hazard, KY, and Rebecca Baker of Laurel County, KY. He is also survived by his two brothers: Henry Madden & Kathy of Wooton, KY; Chester Madden of Wooton, KY; along with six adored grandchildren: Khloe Madden, Kristen Brock, Erica Brock, Madelyn Hays, Ethan Hays, and Ian Hays. In addition to his immediate family members, Elmer is also survived by a special nephew Edward Madden and a special niece Joanie Boggs. He is further survived by a host of other treasured relatives and friends who will forever cherish the moments shared with him.
Services to honor and remember Elmer's life will be held at Walker Funeral Homes in Hyden, KY. A visitation will take place on April 8th from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM followed by a Funeral Service at 2:00 PM. with Rev. Tommy Fields officiating. Elmer Madden will be deeply missed but never forgotten. May he rest in peace knowing that he was truly loved.
