Our sweet mother, Frances Bowling Lewis of Hyden, joined her beloved husband, George Wilgus Lewis in heaven on Thursday, January 24, 2019, at the St. Joseph Hospital, Lexington, KY. at the age of 90. Frances was born March 18, 1928 in Hyden, KY., the daughter of the late, Ott Bowling & Rachel Johnson Bowling. Frances had been a life-long resident of Leslie Co. with the exception of 5 years in Detroit Michigan. She was a loving & devoted homemaker & a self-employed babysitter. Frances was a member of the Wooton Baptist Church at Wooton, KY. She was a quiet & very much a homebody. She spent countless hours in her flower garden. Plants no one else could grow flourished proudly in her garden. She loved sewing & was an accomplished seamstress. She was a expert quilter. She read her Bible faithfully & one of her favorite things was attending Church. She was a master at solving crossword puzzles & she loved to color. She was unique & irreplaceable & small but mighty.
Frances was preceded in death by her parents, beloved husband, George Wilgus Lewis, brothers, Ted, Vance, Roy & Marshall Bowling, sisters-in-law, Gladys Bowling & Evelyn Bowling & brothers-in-law, Bill Abernathy & Len Stidham. She leaves the following relatives surviving, 3 beloved daughters, Patsy Wiglesworth of Lexington, KY., Peggy Lewis of Lexington, KY. & Carolyn Deaver & Harold of Canton, N.C., brother, Vernon Bowling & Christine of Connersville, IN., sisters, Jewel Stidham of Hyden, KY., Delphia Abernathy of Middletown, OH., Shirley Hunt & Bob of Connersville, IN. , Glenna Combs of Manchester, KY., sisters-in-law, Wilma Bowling & Betty Bowling, treasured grandchildren, Shawn Wiglesworth & Michelle, Lacey Simmons & Kyle, Samantha Heath & Josh, great grandchildren, Jack Wiglesworth, Rachel Wiglesworth, Jackson Hargis & Ella Hargis. Also a host of other relatives & friends survive.
