Gloria Fields, a woman known for her unwavering dedication as a homemaker and a pillar of love and strength for her family, passed away in Corbin, KY on Thursday, March 21, 2024 at the age of 97 years old. She was born in Farler, KY, on May 6,1926, the daughter of the late Dulcena Cornett Caudill and Lyttle Caudill. Throughout her life, Gloria found joy in the simple pleasures of quilting, tending to her flowers, and treasure-hunting at yard sales. Her greatest pride lay in taking care of her family. She attended West Corbin Christian Church. She was described as witty, feisty, and never afraid to tell it like it is. Gloria had a gift for making everyone feel welcome and nobody left her house hungry. Her fondest memories revolved around moments shared with loved ones – a testament to the deep bonds she held dear.
Gloria was preceded in death by her parents, loving and devoted husband, Earl Fields, sisters, Amanda Woods, Zell Caudill, Vesta Hylton, Marge Marano, Pina Pratt, brothers, B.W. Caudill, Wilder Caudill, Jim Caudill and Dale Caudill.
On Sept. 21, 1948, Gloria embarked on a lifelong journey of love and companionship with her devoted husband Earl Fields. Together, they built a family filled with love and warmth. She leaves behind cherished memories for her surviving children: Diann Hoskins & husband Delaney of London, KY, Fred Fields & wife, Stella of London, KY.,Mary Phillips & husband Dale of Oil Springs, KY, Kay Hensley & husband Jeff of London, KY, Marsha Maggard & husband Jack of London, KY, Kim Dugger & husband James of Corbin, KY, along with her 13 grandchildren, Tracy Bowling, Jared Fields and wife, Kayla, Nick Fields and wife, Brittany, Nathan Phillips and wife, Jessica, Gloria Weldon and husband, Daniel, Ollie Heath and husband, Peyton, Chelsey Jones and husband, Kameron, Justin Maggard and wife, Hope, Sammy Maggard and wife, Chandler, Andrea Dugger, Alan Dugger, Kevin Dugger, Joseph Dugger, 12 great-grandchildren, Robin Collett, Casey Collett, Adalyn Fields, Ayden Fields, Alayna Fields, Enoch Monroe Fields, Caroline Fields, Joshua Dugger, Kylie Dugger, Beckett Jones, Coco Phillps, Hazel Phillips, 1 great-great-grandchild, Raelynn Collett, special friend and caregiver, Sarah Ellen Hoskins and Hurricane neighborhood watch partner, Mary Mosley.
The funeral service for Mrs. Gloria Fields will be conducted at 1:00 p.m.- Monday -March 25, 2024 at the Dwayne Walker Funeral Home in Hyden with Rev. Billy Joe Lewis officiating and her nephew James G Caudill will present the eulogy. Gloria's niece, Gloria Marano will read the obituary. The interment will follow the funeral service at the W.H. Caudill Cemetery at Mason's Creek, KY. Friends may call for visitation on Sunday - March 24th from 5:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Her presence will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. The following will serve as pallbearers, Jared Fields, Nick Fields, Nathan Phillips, Justin Maggard, Sammy Maggard, Robin Collett and Casey Collett.
