Mrs. Gwendolyn Tonya Callahan passed to her heavenly home on Sunday, September 22, 2019 at the age of 55. Tonya was born June 12, 1964 in Hyden, KY., the daughter of Helen Bray. She had been a resident of Cornettsville for the past 30 years. By occupation Tonya had worked for the Hyden Citizens Bank for the past 36 years as a Vice-President & Chief Loan Officer. She had a very distingushed career at the Bank. Words can not describe the impact Tonya had at the Bank, our community and each of us. She was an extradordinary example of what an employee, co-worker and friend should be. She absolutely gave 100% every time all the time with a positive attitude and work ethic that was amazing. Tonya was so dedicated to her work and was a part of most every meeting and activity at the bank. She was a member of many committees at the bank including the Officers Loan Compliance, Marketing, Succession Planning, Exam Preparation, and Profit Enhancement Committees to name a few. And, she worked closely with the Board of Directors and Shareholders who had full trust in her and always recognized and appreciated her dedication to their bank. She was also part of many bank and community activities over the years, with a smile, positive attitude and helping hand. Tonya truly shined when working with her customers she made each customer feel welcome and worked so hard to meet their needs. Each year at the bank, the employees choose a fellow co-worker for the Chairman's Award. This award recognizes the employee they feel has made the most significant contribution to the bank and makes the bank a better place to work. Tonya won this award numerous times over the years because she truly embodied what this award stands for an employee who is a leader, sets the standard of service high and always works together with her team. She was a devoted & faithful member of the Hyden Church of God in Hyden. Tonya loved the beach & being outdoors, but most of she loved spending time with her family.
Tonya was preceded in death by her mother-in-law, Doris Callahan, one grandson, Jon, special aunt, Annette Hoskins & special cousin, Crystal Hoskins. She is survived by her loving & devoted husband of 30 years, Michael "Mike" Callahan of Cornettsville, KY. her beloved mother, Helen Bray of London, KY., three sons, Nicholas Callahan & Audrey of Hazard, KY., Brandon Callahan & Heather of Paris, Ky. & Blake Callahan & Missy of Hazard, KY., two treasured sisters, Elizabeth "Liz" Hoard of London, KY. & Nancy Regina "Gina" Mosley of London, KY., two special nieces, Kayla Gay & husband, Tray of London, KY. & Kate Wilder & husband, John of London, KY., two treasured great nephews, Nash Gay & Knox Gay, special friends, Vicky Sizemore, Deborah Baker & Sharon Mosley & five treasured grandchildren, Dylan Callahan, Sydney Callahan, Aaryn Callahan, Bristol Callahan & Desie Callahan. Also a host of cousins, numerous co-worker friends & other friends & family survive.
Funeral: Wednesday, September 25, 2019 @ 1:00 P.M. at the Dwayne Walker Funeral Home, Hyden, KY.

Interment: Swiss Colony Baptist Church Cemetery, London, KY.
