Harvey Dean Muncy, beloved husband, son, and dedicated member of the community, passed away peacefully at his residence in Mozelle, KY. on Friday, March 29, 2024 at the age of 67. Born in Hyden, KY on June 14, 1956, to Irma Morgan Muncy and the late Harvey Muncy. Harvey led a remarkable life filled with love, compassion, and hard work.
Harvey dedicated almost five decades of his life to working at Foodfair and IGA Grocery. Known for his exceptional knowledge of every aisle and corner of the store, he could effortlessly guide anyone to find what they were looking for. His passion for helping others and his infectious love for being around people left a lasting impact on all who had the pleasure of knowing him. Aside from his illustrious career, Harvey was also commissioned as a Kentucky Colonel. He took great pride in this achievement, showcasing his dedication and commitment to his community.
In his free time, Harvey indulged in various hobbies such as collecting scrap iron, cutting firewood, and tinkering with things he loved to repair. His curious mind and hands-on approach to life defined his adventurous spirit. Harvey's proudest accomplishments included being a member of the "Hope in the Hills" organization and a lifelong member of the Lower Beechfork United Methodist Church. His unwavering faith and charitable deeds touched the lives of many.
Harvey was preceded in death by his beloved father, Harvey Muncy, brother, Lonnie Muncy and nephew, Chad Muncy.
Harvey will be dearly missed by his surviving family members including his loving mother Irma Morgan Muncy, devoted wife Mary Messer Muncy, step-son Elmer Dwayne Huff and Eula, brother Johnny Muncy & Judy, sisters-in-law Phenessa Sizemore & Vickie Baker, step-grandchildren Hannah Huff, Devin Huff, Logan Huff, step-great-grandchild Phoenix, niece Jennifer and nephews Josh & Brittany, Jonathan & Tiffany, Jacob & Sierra and Jeremy. Special friend Rose Mary Joseph. He is also survived by a host of other nieces and nephews & one great, great nephew, who were touched by his kindness and warmth. In memory of Harvey Dean Muncy's remarkable life filled with love and service to others, visitation will be held on Thursday at 6:00 p.m. on April 4, 2024 at Lower Beechfork United Methodist Church followed by a Funeral Service on Friday, April 5, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at the church. May his legacy of compassion and dedication live on in the hearts of all those who had the privilege of knowing him. Harvey's spirit will forever remain a beacon of light in our community.
