Mr. Hurlen Lewis of Yeaddiss, KY. passed away Monday, August 24, 2020. He was 87 years old. He passed away at the Well's Hospice Center in Hazard, KY. Hurlen was born January 14, 1933 at Yeaddiss, KY., the son of the late, John C. Lewis & Emily Turner Lewis. He had been a life-long resident of Leslie Co. By occupation Hurlen was a retired coal miner for Blue Diamond Coal Co. He was a member of the Big Fork Church of God at Yeaddiss, KY. Hurlen enjoyed auto-mechanic work, hunting, gardening & working on his tractor. But most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family.
Hurlen was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Paul & Cleve Lewis & sister, Evelyn Baker. He is survived by his loving & devoted wife, Shirley Boggs Lewis of 66 years, 3 beloved daughters, Wanda Morgan, Yeaddiss, KY, Linda Lewis, Yeaddiss, KY. & Darlene Best & Kenny, Yeaddiss, KY., 3 brothers, Clifford Lewis & Bonnie, Stinnett, KY., Eugene Lewis & Lexine, Ohio & Billy Ray Lewis, Harlan, KY., 7 sisters, Elizabeth Roberts & Victor, Stinnett, KY., Vernell Lewis, Stinnett, KY., Lois Brock & Johnny, Stinnett, KY., Faye North & James, Yeaddiss, KY., Joyce Lewis, Yeaddiss, KY., Cinda Joseph, Wooton, KY. & Martha Woods, Texas; grandchildren, Carrie Ann Coots, Joshua Joseph and special grand-daughter Jessica Dione Wegford; 6 treasured great grandchildren, Whitney Michelle Mize "Pretty Girl", Shawn Michael Mize, Chelsey Morgan Coots, Caitlyn Cheyanna Coots, Brandy Lynn Horn & Courtney Lashae Joseph & 6 treasured great great grandchildren, Shaylynn Grace Horn, Ryanna Rose Horn, Easton Joshua Horn (to arrive December 2020), Bryson Gage Turner, Madison Jane Collins & Allyson Nicole Cadinke Saylor. The family would like to take this opportunity to express their sincere appreciation and gratitude to Hurlen's granddaughter and caregiver, Jessica Diane Wegford. Also a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives & friends survive.
