Jack Turner, a beloved figure in his community, passed away peacefully on January 20, 2025, at the age of 93 in Flemingsburg, Kentucky. Born on August 4, 1931, Jack lived a life rich with kindness and an outgoing spirit, leaving a lasting impression on all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Jack proudly served his country as a Marine, dedicating a significant part of his life to the values of service and duty. His military experience shaped his character and instilled in him a sense of discipline and responsibility, which he carried throughout his life.
However, he cherished his role as a father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and great-great grandfather above all. These roles were not merely titles to him, but his proudest accomplishments. Jack's warmth and affection were a constant source of strength and to his family, and he took great joy in the moments shared with them.
He leaves the following children to mourn his passing: Michael Gee (Karin), Karen Turner (Jim Kooyman), Valerie Bowman (Mark), Vance Turner (Michiko), Vick Turner (Lena), Matthew Turner (Ashley), and Chase Turner. The following grandchildren: April Gee, Lauren Cochran (Heath), Hallie Collins (James), Aryn Robinson, Kyle Bowman, Courtney Koogler (James), Kiera Bowman Bates (Austin), Jimmy Turner (April), John Turner (Rebecca), Michael Turner (Tabitha), and Christopher Turner (Anna). The following great-grandchildren: Savanna, Charesse, Trinity, Ellen, Lucas, Alex, Mabel Jane, Savannah, Reese, Jude, Aliana, Amaya, Milo, Cade, Casey, Elizabeth, Chloe, Joshua, Caroline, and Niles. The following great-great grandchildren: Noah, Ezekiel, Nevaeh, and Penelope. His step-sons: Robert Higdon (Erica) and Chris Higdon (Cortney); step-grandchildren: Blaiyn, Raylie, Freya, John, Eden, Mckelti, Axel, and Evelyn.
He also leaves behind his long-time caregiver and ex-wife: Janet Turner.
Mr. Jack Turner is preceded in death by his parents: John Turner and Maude Couch Turner; his sisters, Ruby Turner, Lucille Joseph, Hazel Perry, and Daisy Gross.
His kindness resonated deeply within his community, where his outgoing personality allowed him to forge connections that spanned decades. Jack's legacy is defined not only by his service and achievements but by the love he fostered in his family and friends.
Jack Turner will be remembered for his unwavering love and the joy he brought into the lives of those around him. He leaves behind a legacy of compassion, dedication, and the profound impact one person can have in a lifetime. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
Funeral services will be held on January 30, 2025 at 1 pm at the Pleasant Ridge Christian Church 9821 Elizaville Rd. Ewing, KY 41039 with Rev. Rodney Pollitt officiating and again on January 31, 2025 at 1pm at the Dwayne Walker Funeral Home chapel with Rev. Billy Joe Lewis and Wayne Boggs officiating.
Visitation will be from 12 noon until the funeral hour at both locations.
