Jean R. Begley

Mrs. Jean R. Begley passed away Wednesday, July 21, 2021 at her residence in Hazard, KY. She was 93 years old. Jean was born February 13, 1928 at Roark, KY., the daughter of the late, McKinley Roark and Ruth Hall Roark. She had been a life-long resident of Hyden with the exception of living in Hazard since 2008. Jean had a very distinguished career in education.  Jean was a retired school teacher & instructional supervisor for the Leslie County School System, having taught school for a total of 30 years. She was a substitute teacher until 2003. She attended Western Kentucky University, Eastern Kentucky University & received her Rank I from EKU. Jean was active in the Retired Teacher's Association. Jean  enjoyed sewing (she was an avid seamstress), reading, (especially her Bible), attending Church, being a homemaker & especially loved spending time with her family. Jean was a devoted member of the Central Presbyterian Church EPC in Hyden, KY.

Mrs. Jean R. Begley  was preceded in death by her beloved parents, loving & devoted husband, David W. Begley, cherished daughter, Ella Ruth Cleamons, sisters, Edith Muncy and June Muncy & brother, Quentin Roosevelt Roark. She leaves the following relatives surviving; one cherished son, Dane Begley (Mary), Hyden, KY., three cherished daughters, Marsha Jo Estridge (Eddie), Hyden, KY., Vicki Raye Boggs (James Scott), Hyden, KY. and Cindi Williams (Dale), Hazard, KY., eleven treasured grandchildren, Tara Brooke Sharpe (D.J.), Brittany E. Estridge, Taylor Jean Williams, Matthew T. Williams, Parker Dale Williams, Anastasia L. Harper (Tony), Nikki Couch, Emily Boggs, Bruce Alan Begley, Andi Begley and Charles Bradley, four treasured great grandchildren, Theodore Watson Sharpe, Devon Begley, Dylan Begley, Jensen Begley and a special friend and caregiver, Rosetta Pennington. Also a host of other relatives and friends survive.

Funeral: Sunday, July 25, 2021 at 2:00 P.M. at the Dwayne Walker Funeral Home, Hyden, KY.

Minister: Rev. Merle Caudill

Interment: Hurricane Cemetery, Hyden, KY.

Visitation: Saturday, July 24, 2021 at 6:00 P.M. at the Funeral Home Chapel
