Jerry Leon Sickles, Jr., a beloved member of his community and a dedicated professional, passed away on January 13 2025, at the Hyden Health & Rehab Center in Hyden, Kentucky. He was 42 years old. Born on December 11, 1982, in Hyden, Jerry lived a life filled with passion and purpose, driven by his love for cooking and his desire to bring joy to those around him.
Jerry's career as a cook spanned several well-known establishments, including Ryan's Steakhouse, Applebee's, and the ABC State of Alabama. His culinary skills not only showcased his talent in the kitchen but also reflected his commitment to providing hearty meals that brought family and friends together. Beyond his profession, he had a deep love for video games and computers, which complemented his cooking endeavors. Jerry cherished the moments spent with his family, valuing the connections and shared experiences that life had to offer.
In addition to his professional achievements, Jerry maintained strong ties with his family and friends, who provided him with unwavering support and companionship. He is survived by his brother, Marcus Samuel Lee Sickles; his niece, Carmen Marie Sickles; and his nephew, Marcus Samuel Lee Sickles, II. Jerry also held close friendships with Scott and D.J., and enjoyed the love of his aunts, including Carty R. Morgan Joseph (James), Charlotte Morgan Dykes, (Larry), and Donna Morgan. His cousins: Tara and John, Katie and Alex, John and Marie, and Chester and Marika; along with a host of uncles in Alabama: Tommy and Joe Sickles. These relationships were a source of happiness and strength throughout his life.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Jerry Leon Sickles, Sr. and Alecia Morgan Sickles, paternal grandparents, Wilburn and Helen Sickles, maternal grandparents, Cecil and Della Morgan, as well as his uncle, Cecil "Pudge" Morgan and uncle Johnny Sickles of Alabama. The legacy of love and laughter he leaves behind will be forever cherished by those who knew him.
As we remember Jerry, we honor his spirit, his dedication to his craft, and the warmth he brought into the lives of so many. His memory will continue to inspire and uplift, reminding us all of the importance of family, friendship, and community.
