John "Johnnie" Widner passed away Wednesday, March 22, 2023 at the Well's Hospice Center in Hazard, Kentucky. He was 68 years old. Johnny was born October 11, 1954 in Hyden, Kentucky, the son of the late, James E. Widner and the late, Ora Sizemore Widner. He had been a life long resident of Leslie County. Johnny enjoyed being with his family.
Johnny was preceded in death by his parents, James E. Widner & Ora Sizemore Widner, brothers, Rocky, Harold, Eddie Wayne & Loyd Widner & sisters, Gladys McBride & Anna C. Abbott and nephew, Paul. He leaves the following relatives surviving; wife, Verla Widner, children, Joe McBride, David Ramey, Steve Ramey, Connie Smith, Clarica Widner, both of Cincinnati, Ohio, Brenda Widner, Fairborn, Ohio, step children, Kimberly Gibbs (Anthony), Alabama, Dike Fleming (Bonita), Cincinnati, Ohio and Krystal Fleming (Ernest), Austin, IN., brothers, Taylor Widner (Janet), London, KY and George Widner (Gladys), TN., grandchildren, Zachary, Sarah, Iona, CJ (Elizabeth) and special granddaughter, Harleigh (he called her basketball head), great grandchildren, Sophia & Colsyn Jhett, special nieces & nephews, Georgegena Widner Feltner, Rusty Widner (Levon) & Keisha Coots & special great nieces, Searra Feltner, Destiny Morgan, Charley Morgan & Morgan Maggard.
Funeral: Monday, March 27, 2023 at 1:00 P.M. at the Dwayne Walker Funeral Home Hyden, KY.
Minister: Randy Woods
Interment: Widner Family Cemetery, (Caney Fork Road), Hyden, KY.
Visitation: Sunday, March 26, 2023 at 5:00 P.M. at the Funeral Home Chapel
