Obituary:
Katherine "Kat" Morgan Mullins, a dedicated educator who spent over 27 years working and teaching in the Leslie County Board of Education, passed away on May 15, 2024 in Greenville, SC at the age of 72.. She was a cherished life-long resident of Leslie County, KY, born on November 7, 1951, in Wendover, KY.
Katherine was known for her loving and kind-hearted personality, making her well-liked by all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Katherine's well rounded personality suited her profession well and made her beloved by her students. She could be caring, loving, funny and at the same time stubborn and stern. She will be remembered for her unwavering devotion to her family, friends, and her community. One of Katherine's proudest accomplishments was her cherished daughter, Kristin and her treasured grandchildren, Chase and Morgan. She was a graduate from the Cumberland College with a Bachelor's Degree. She was proud of being a member of the Rockhouse Baptist Church, where she found solace and strength in her faith. In her leisure time, Katherine enjoyed relaxing at the beach during vacations, indulging in shopping trips, and showering her beloved pets with affection. She was also an avid University of Kentucky fan, cheering passionately for her favorite team.
Katherine was preceded in death by her loving parents, Hays & Opal Skeens Morgan, her beloved grandson Dylan Rodney Chase Sally, her twin brother, Timothy, her beloved sisters, Margaret Gail Sizemore and Barbara Carol Stidham; as well as brothers, Ralph and Ronald, and treasured nephews, Byron Sizemore, Greg Morgan and Mike Morgan.
She is survived by her cherished daughter Kristin Sally of Greenville, South Carolina and treasured granddaughter Morgan Lynn Faith Sally and Brady Adams. Greenville, South Carolina, three loving brothers: Hubert Morgan of Hyden, KY; Claude Morgan & wife Deborah of Somerset, KY; Roger Morgan & wife Rhonda of Wendover, KY; loving sisters Glinda Anderson & husband Lonnie of Williamsburg, KY; Christine Copper & husband Wayne of Williamsburg, KY; brother-in-law, Tommy Sizemore of Stinnett, KY. Katherine also leaves behind a host of treasured nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends. Katherine Morgan Mullins leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness that will forever be cherished by those who knew her. May she rest in peace knowing she touched the hearts of many with her warmth and compassion.
FUNERAL SERVICE: Monday, May 20, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. at the Rockhouse Baptist Church at Hyden, KY
VISITATION: Sunday, May 19, 2024 at 6:00 p.m. at the church.
