Leland “Lee” Jackson, 75 of O’Fallon IL, born December 23, 1946, in Mount Coal, W. Virginia, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Friday December 2, 2022, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in O’Fallon, IL.
Lee took great pride in serving his country and retired from the United States Air Force in October, 1985. He also retired from Southwestern Illinois College and then for fun drove the Bogey Bus for McKendree University in Lebanon, Illinois. He was a long-time member of First Baptist Church of O’Fallon and taught Sunday School for many years. Lee was an avid reader and thoroughly enjoyed working in his wood shop.
Lee was preceded by his parents; Arthur and Cloeva Jackson (nee Jones); son Michael Leland Jackson; daughter Kristin Jackson; 2 brothers and 2 sisters.
Lee is survived by his devoted and loving wife of 44 years Wilma Jackson (nee Baker), his daughters Kathy (Mike) Douglass of Fairview Heights, IL. Karen Wells of O’Fallon, IL and Barbara Douglass of O’Fallon, IL mother-in-law to Kathy and mom to Mike. One granddaughter Kristin Nicole Jackson of Enid, OK. and his beloved sister Jenny Easterday of Knoxville, TN. He is also survived by his best friend and dear brother William “Bill” Malec of O’Fallon, IL who was as close to Lee as any brother could be and William “Bill” Townsend of Belleville, IL who has been a special friend and neighbor for many, many years. Along with a host of family, friends, nieces, and nephews.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, December 7, 2022, from 5:00 - 7:00 PM at Schildknecht Funeral Home; 301 S. Lincoln Ave., O’Fallon, IL 62269. A funeral service with Military Honors will immediately follow the Visitation at 7:00pm. Arrangements have been entrusted to Schildknecht Funeral Home, O’Fallon, IL.
A private family burial will be conducted Friday, December 9, 2022 at 12:00 Noon under the direction of the Dwayne Walker Funeral Home at the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery South East in Hyden, Kentucky with full military rites observed by the Leslie Co. DAV Chapter #133.
