Marie Hensley Asher, a beloved lifelong resident of Leslie County, Kentucky, passed away peacefully in her hometown of Hyden on November 27, 2024, at the age of 103. Born on September 6, 1921, Marie was a pillar of her community and a cherished member of her family.
A dedicated homemaker, Marie devoted her life to creating a warm and loving home for her family. She was actively involved in the Wooton Presbyterian Church, where her kindness and welcoming spirit left an indelible mark on all who knew her. Her nurturing nature extended beyond her immediate family as she embraced friendships within her community and church.
Marie had a profound passion for crocheting and quilting, hobbies that allowed her to express her creativity and bring joy to those around her. Her crafted pieces were often gifts to family and friends, embodying the love she poured into every stitch.
Among her proudest accomplishments was raising her children and witnessing the growth of her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and even great-great-grandchildren. Marie's legacy is one of love, inspiration, and resilience, qualities that will continue to resonate in the hearts of her family and friends.
Marie was preceded in death by her loving husband, Willie Asher, her parents, Jim Hensley and Ollie Howard Hensley, children, Jessie Bowling, Curtis Asher, grandson, Robert Edmond Asher, son-in-law, Don Morgan, and brother-in-law, Delbert Woods. She is survived by her sons, Robert Asher and Jennifer, Dale Asher and Teresa; her daughter, Eula Morgan and Don; and her sister, Mae Woods. The following grandchildren: Phillip Asher, Christopher Asher (Toronda), Windell Keith Asher, Jean Renee Morgan, Victoria Lynn Lewis (James Patrick), Kristy Madden (Jason), Shannon Sizemore (Paul), and Sheena Feltner. Ms. Marie Asher is also survived by a host of great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
Pallbearers: Phillip Asher, James Patrick Lewis, Morgan Stamper, and Austin Stamper.
A funeral service to honor Marie's life will be held on Monday, December 2, 2024, at 2:00 PM at Walker Funeral Home with Pastor Merle Caudill officiating. Burial will follow in the Owl's nest Cemetery in Hyden, KY. The family will receive friends from noon until the funeral hour. Marie's loving nature, craftiness, and devotion to the Lord will forever be remembered in the community.
